PLAYERS: Tim Duncan
TEAMS: San Antonio Spurs

Via Larry Brown Sports:

Tim Duncan and his wife of nearly 12 years are getting a divorce, and it seems like the San Antonio Spurs star had concerns that Amy was cheating on him.

According to San Antonio Express-News columnist Buck Harvey, Duncan had concerns about his wife last fall and hired a private investigator to follow her. Harvey also says Amy moved out of the couple’s home about a month ago.

Harvey says Duncan was not surprised about the divorce and that he was planning to file for one after the two worked out a settlement. He reportedly was surprised at the timing of Amy’s decision to file.

As we noted in a previous post, Duncan requested to have the legal discovery portion of the case delayed until after the playoffs ended. The Spurs have reached the NBA Finals and their season won’t end for another few weeks.

Tim and Amy met at Wake Forest where he played basketball and she was a cheerleader. They married on July 21, 2001, and they have two children together.

  • Why now? I know that this is his life but, couldn't this have waited until the playoffs were over. Damn, they have been married for 12 years couldn't this wait another 4-5 weeks. I need him to be focused in the finals. This is totally distracting. I need him on his A game.

  • Amen! He should learn to properly connect two sentences. I taught English in public schools and this looks like freshman work.

  • lol, they will never learn that white are the best when it comes to "gold digging". they have the market cornered.
  • It's to bad that he didn't consult you regarding his personal life decisions. What a inconsiderate guy he is. STFU!!
  • Damn :) , U got $ on the game(s)?
  • i agree with LadyJ70 this is distracting!! Hang in there Mr.Duncan your strong and I know you can do this and over come ur cheating spouse!! If your ever interesting in meeting a family woman who will ride with you til the end (as they say a ride or die lady) please look me up. No one deserve such disrespect! Lets go SPURS!!!!
  • Where did it state that she cheated on him? Maybe he's just paranoid which is why he hired the PI. All you guys care about is your team, not the fact that their kids will not have a father and mother living in the same home.
  • You can get a pretty good idea of what is going on around you if you are paying attention, and this goes for a lot of things within our lives. Considering how Mr. Duncan handles himself, and without knowing him at all, I'd say that he is a pretty stable fellow. He has had this same demeanor since college, now I do have a friend that ran close to his circle of friends during his college days, so I do have some input on him. But if you know someone, and you are paying attention, then this would have been an excellent time to hire a PI if you were noticing that things were not running at normal in your household.

Yes, it is sad that they will most likely have a broken family, but it isn't the end for them. There are many people that have done well that have came from broken families.
  • I'm sure he's just dying to meet you :\
  • They are human. People Change. Life goes on. The holy one always gives us the tools to handle lifes problems. I wish them both the best. Now ...BACK TO BASKETBALL!!!
  • It's very unfortunate that our own local San Antonio paper was the one to first run this story. All of us San Antonians know how private Tim is and as spurs fans we know how Pop doesn't appreciate these types of new stories distracting from what our Spurs work so hard at all season. I hope Tim knows how much he means for our city and how the good people here genuinely care for him.Divorces are so difficult especially with children involved. It's unfortunate that his private life is exposed in this manner. San Antonio is behind you Tim and not just because of basketball. Having said that, we are all rooting for our boys. Drive for Five, Go Spurs Go!! <3 :)
  • From one San Antonian to another...right on dude! Well said
  • The media and the public hate to admit, however, this scenario is played out constantly. Woman latch on to a athlete they KNOW will strike it rich from their talent. She stay with him while he is getting paid for that talent. When his career is almost over, they get out with half of all money he has made AND the kids. Now, she can live the life they always wanted. Find the love she always wanted. Almost every case: black athlete and white woman. Tim Duncan has been a great person, father, husband, teammate, etc. Never heard any bad story about him. Now, his career is over? Marriage is over? Sorry Tim. Lesson learned.
  • She could of waited until after the playoffs. His lawyer should make sure she gets nothing! cheaters should never win!!
  • De fense, De fense
  • I am a huge Spurs fan, and I absolutely love and adore Tim Duncan. This woman doesn't know how lucky she was to have him. I hope he is able to keep his focus on winning another championship. GO SPURS GO!!!

WAGs Wednesday: Tim Duncan’s (Soon To Be Ex) Wife, Amy Duncan

The Spurs have made it to the NBA Finals for the 5th time during the Tim Duncan era.  While some may argue Tony Parker has been carrying San Antonio all post-season, we’ve seen plenty of the “vintage” Tim Duncan helping the Spurs reach the Finals.  Being crowned the best team in the West is usually a time for celebration, but unfortunately for Tim Duncan, he’s allegedly...

A Brief And Obvious Point About Tim Duncan's Divorce

Who gets the dogs? Hovering around the periphery of the Spurs' run for the last couple of weeks has been the tabloids working the semi-secret personal life of Hall of Fame power forward and franchise cornerstone Tim Duncan, and his impending divorce from his wife of 12 years. There's been talk about how the suit is being delayed by the Spurs' long playoff run, how Timmy...

CC video of the day: Duncan says Spurs will be rusty come Game 1

"It is what it is." That was Spurs' Tim Duncan's weighing in on the long wait until Game 1 of the NBA Finals as the Heat and Pacers duke it out in the Eastern Conference Finals currently tied at 2-2. But with the long wait comes the often asked question... rest versus rust, which is preferred?  For the Spurs, their aged core of Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker...

Thanks to dieting and getting leaner, Tim Duncan can lead the San Antonio Spurs to a fifth title

Thanks to dieting and getting leaner last summer, San Antonio Spurs legend Tim Duncan is in the midst of having his best season on the hardwood since the 2009-2010 campaign. Shedding roughly 30 pounds to fall to 230, the two-time MVP averaged 17.8 points, 9.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.7 blocks playing only 30 minutes per game. More importantly, the 6-foot-11 Duncan led San Antonio...

Should Duncan go out on top?

During the NBA Finals, Rey Moralde of The No Look Pass will be contributing to Project Spurs during the San Antonio Spurs' chase for title number five.   We have seen this before in San Antonio. David Robinson did this in 2003. But would Spurs fans be surprised if Tim Duncan did the same as Robinson if the Spurs win title No. 5?   I'm talking about going...

Resurgent Duncan set for NBA Finals

Practice between games in the Western Conference finals had long wrapped for the San Antonio Spurs, and a few players stayed around to continue working. Those remaining were primarily end-of-rotation players such as Patty Mills and Tracy McGrady, but quietly working alone in a corner of the practice facility was the cornerstone of the franchise. Tim Duncan was using a ball-return...

Video: Spurs are the Dr.'s favorite NBA team

In an era of flashiness, endorsements, and who makes it the most on highlight reels, the San Antonio Spurs and Tim Duncan often get overlooked. Time after time, the Spurs are right in the thick of things in the race for the NBA title season after season thanks in large part to Duncan and this season is no different. The Spurs and Duncan are back in the NBA Finals for a fifth...

Chris Bosh Says Tim Duncan Was One Of His Favorite Players

Chris Bosh could be matching up with Tim Duncan in the NBA Finals, a place the Spurs have never lost, but ‘another lifetime’ ago, the Heat star was just another fan who idolized the future Hall-of-Famer. According to Joseph Goodman, Miami Herald: Chris Bosh had Tim Duncan posters. That pretty much sums up how long the Spurs have been the gold standard of consistency in the...

Tim Duncan serves as inspiration for Miami's Bosh

During the NBA Finals, Rey Moralde of The No Look Pass will be contributing to Project Spurs during the San Antonio Spurs' chase for title number five.   Chris Bosh, as we know, is the big man of Miami's "big three." We know that Dwyane Wade and LeBron James get inspiration from one Michael Jordan. But Bosh, being a 6'10" power forward/center,...

Video: Parker on winning the title for Duncan

During the NBA Finals, Rey Moralde of The No Look Pass will be contributing to Project Spurs during the San Antonio Spurs' chase for title number five. Tony Parker has been a different player these last few years. Even though Tim Duncan is still there, the San Antonio Spurs have really become more of Parker's team. They transitioned the offense into one that predicates...

The Spurs need the Heat

The opportunities to appreciate Tim Duncan are getting fewer and fewer by the day, even as he continues to show he has more in reserve than most ever thought possible at the age of 37.   For that reason and more, San Antonio Spurs fans should be rooting for the Miami Heat to survive the Indiana Pacers. This has been a magical season for the San Antonio Spurs, and with tomorrow...

Sorry everyone else, but this one is for Timmy

With apologies to every other player on the San Antonio Spurs roster, every fan and even Gregg Popovich, this Finals run isn't about them.  It's not even about Tony Parker, who has been brilliant this postseason, especially against the Memphis Grizzlies.  No this run to the Finals is about Tim Duncan and the quest to get him ring number five. The idea that it's...
