Portland Trail Blazers
Golden State Warriors
The Denver Nuggets and Portland Trail Blazers each ended last season in disappointing fashion, and the 2013-14 campaign hasn't exactly gotten off to a rousing start, either.
Both teams will look to bounce back from season-opening losses as Denver seeks a 10th straight home victory over Portland on Friday night.
The Nuggets won a franchise-record 57 games before being knocked out of the playoffs by Golden State in the first round, leading to the firing of Coach of the Year George Karl.
The Brian Shaw era didn't begin so well Wednesday, as Denver lost 90-88 at Sacramento. Ty Lawson, playing despite a groin injury, scored 20 points but missed a potential tying layup in the closing seconds.
J.J. Hickson, Randy Foye and Andre Miller added 12 points apiece for the Nuggets, who committed 19 turnovers and trailed by as many as 13. They also played without Wilson Chandler, who is day to day with a hamstring injury.

BEST OF MAXIM
Here we have a story that screams “Halloween prank”, as Rocky, the Denver Nuggets’ mascot, made a very terrifying (and very real) entrance onto the Pepsi Center court Friday night. His debut stunt involved being lowered from the rafters, but the man in the suit passed out on the way down, creating the illusion that Rocky was “hanged” on a noose as he approached the court...

Who says that NBA mascot have it easy?
Apparently, Denver Nuggets mascot Rocky is having a rocky night as he had to leave the Nuggets game against the Trail Blazers due to dizziness.
Why was Rocky dizzy? Well, I let the Twitter account from the guys over at Hardwood Paroxysm tell you that:
Super Mascot Rocky will not return to the game with some sort of condition developed from being...
Denver Nuggets’ Wilson Chandler has been dealing with a hamstring injury all of preseason and just when he thinks its getting better, it tightens up again. This nagging injury will keep Chandler sidelined as the Nuggets began their season with an 88-90 loss to the Sacramento Kings yesterday. Christopher Dempsey of The Denver Post states that coach Brian Shaw is feeling concerned...
LaMarcus Aldridge scored nine of his 25 points in the fourth quarter to help the Portland Trail Blazers hold off Denver 113-98 Friday night, spoiling the home debut of Nuggets coach Brian Shaw and snapping their 23-game regular-season home win streak.
Nicolas Batum and Wesley Matthews each added 21 as the Blazers opened up a 26-point lead late in the third quarter, only to see the...
Shortly before the Denver Nuggets' game against the Portland Trail Blazers Friday night, the team’s mascot, “Rocky,” was lowered from the ceiling of the Pepsi Center to the floor as part of player introductions.
One problem was that Rocky was noticeably limp while being lowered from the rafters and then laid out on center court in front of the stunned fans. It looked...
These days, it seems almost crazy to think that something you post on a website on Reddit can transform people’s life or yours.
This nice story came to us courtesy of Reddit user WildeNietzsche whose Reddit post got a friend’s painting in the Portland Trail Blazers team offices.
A few months back, he posted a Damian Lillard painting that his friend did to the Portland Trail...

The Denver Nuggets have exercised the fourth-year contract option on forward Kenneth Faried and the third-year option on guard Evan Fournier for 2014-15.
Faried, the 22nd overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, averaged 11.5 points and 9.2 rebounds – both career-highs – in 80 games for the Nuggets last season. He recorded 31 double-doubles and ranked ninth in the NBA in field-goal...
Eighth-year veteran LaMarcus Aldridge and Rookie of the Year Damian Lillard headline this promising Portland Trail Blazers squad going into the 2013-14 campaign. Lillard played with the best of them last year, willingly taking and making game-winning shots in his rookie season. Although Portland remains just a middle-of-the-pack team, it can be very exciting to watch with it’s...

Playing time is one of basketball players' most sensitive subjects. Right now in the Nuggets' frontcourt, it's a super-sensitive subject. Getting minutes is as competitive as it will ever get.
Center JaVale McGee and forward Kenneth Faried found that out the hard way in the season opener against Sacramento. Foul trouble played into McGee's 10 minutes, and a lack...
Some Things to Love and Hate
Amid the hype in the Northwest that the Portland Trail Blazers had stocked their bench during the offseason and could be a surprise in 2013 was the lost fact that the men from Rip City had yet to play in an actual game. While expectations generally always run high before seasons begin, this year was different in Portland. The Blazers were active in the...

From the moment the game entered the fifth minute of play the Portland Trail Blazers looked like a beaten team last night. Tipping off a highly-anticipated 2013 season against the Phoenix Suns, last night was finally the moment Portland was going to flash their poise, speed, strength, and depth. That didn’t happen, though, as the Blazers looked sloppy and tense en...
