The Matchup

The Trail Blazers have really cooled off lately, but they did win their last game on the road even though it was against the weak Hornets. The Hawks suffered a big blow with the loss of C Al Horford for, at least, a couple of months, but they are still playing well and have won 3 straight.

*NBA ATS Matchup Report*

In their last games the Blazers beat the New Orleans Hornets 84-77 and the Hawks beat the Toronto Raptors 93-84.

The road woes for the Blazers are apparent and at the Rose Garden they are averaging 105 ppg and on the road are averaging 89.3 ppg. That is not good facing a Hawks team that is 6-1 at home this season.

With Horford out, Joe Johnson and Josh Smith have really taken up the slack and each has averaged over 22 ppg in their last 3 games and in that span Smith is averaging 8.3 rpg.

Atlanta has a solid D ranking 6th in the league in opponents’ points allowed and they need to key on LaMarcus Aldridge (22 ppg) and a red hot Nicolas Batum, who has averaged 24 ppg in his last 2 games and has hit 8 of his 12 3-pt bombs.

Gerald Wallace is Portland’s 2nd leading scorer, but, much like the whole Blazers’ team, he has really struggled on the road this season.

Jamal visits his last team

Jamal Crawford returns to Atlanta tonight, but the former 6th man of the year has been ice cold lately shooting 22.6% from the floor and combining for 21 points in his last 3 games.

Atlanta PG Jeff Teague (12.4 ppg) has been playing well and he may be the key tonight, as he will have to score and dish out the rock.

Last season the Blazers lost both of their games against the Hawks.

It is interesting that in the latest NBA Power Rankings, which you can READ HERE, Portland had a drop falling 3 spots.

Blazers vs Hawks Free Prediction

This season the Blazers are 7-5-1 ATS with an O/U record of 6-7 and the Hawks are 7-7 ATS with an O/U record of 6-7-1.

In some betting trends for this non-conference match up the Blazers are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 road games, 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games as a road underdog, and they have an Under record of 6-1 in their last 7 road games.

The Hawks are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall, 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a losing road record, and they have an Over record of 4-1-1 in their last 6 home games.

Pick: Sorry Blazers, don’t think this game will be a good game for you guys against a streaking Hawks team, as Atlanta will win and cover the 1.5-point spread.
