Another Dreadful Performance It has become almost commonplace of late, but the Portland TrailBlazers put up another dreadful performance last night. The Indiana Pacers led by as many as 30 points in the fourth quarter before clearing the bench and letting the Blazers cut the final margin to 17. BOXSCORE | RECAP
Indiana 92, Portland Trailblazers 75 When: 7:00 PM ET, Tuesday, March 13, 2012
Where: Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Indianapolis, Indiana
Officials: #8 Marc Davis, #16 David Guthrie, #44 Eli Roe
Attendance: 10933
The Blazers didn’t lead in the game after the score was 3-2, and this was another yawner of a game.
If Portland has many more performances like this, you should expect to see some major changes soon. Love  ’Em 1. Nolan Smith Sure they were minutes when the game was already decided, but it was still nice to see Nolan Smith get hot at the end of last night’s game. Smith was 3 of 3 from the floor and 2 of 2 from the line for 10 points in just 11 minutes of playing time. 2. Getting to the Line The Blazers got to the free throw line 38 times last night. The fact that the team continued to fight and get to the charity stripe was a small positive in a very poor overall performance. Hate ’Em Blazers @ Pacers Love Em & Hate Em - (Photo Credit The Associated Press) 1. Marcus Camby Injury Marcus Camby left after playing only six minutes in last night’s game. He suffered a right shoulder injury. It is unknown the severity of the injury right now, but this team does need him. Without Camby out there to patrol the paint, Louis Amundson scored a whopping 21 points last night. 2. Shooting Woes The shooting woes in Indianapolis last night were just horrific. LaMarcus Aldridge was 5 for 15, Nicolas Batum was 3 for 11, and Raymond Felton was 2 for 8. The list goes on and on, because everyone other than Nolan Smith couldn’t throw a rock in the ocean. 3. Points in the Paint It is understandable that the Blazers would lose the battle of points in the paint against the Pacers without Marcus Camby in the lineup, but to allow the Pacers to win the battle 50 to 16 is unacceptable. An NBA team that gives up 50 points in the paint in a single game isn’t going to win very often. At the same time, the Blazers clearly weren’t getting any easy baskets on the offensive end. Portland travels to Madison Square Garden to take on the slumping New York Knicks tonight.
One of the teams has to come out of this one a winner! Who can break their slump?
