The Lakers agreed to a deal with second-year point guard Kendall Marshall today after it was announced that Kobe Bryant would miss the next six weeks with a fractured left knee. Marshall was traded by the Phoenix Suns before the start of the season and then waived by the Washington Wizards in order for the team to trim their roster to the NBA maximum of 15 players. He then signed with a D-League team earlier this month. In seven games for the Delaware 87ers, Marshall averaged 19.4 points, 9.6 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game while shooting 46 percent from three-point range. Sure, the competition in the D-League is weaker than that of the NBA, yet Marshall – who was the 13th overall pick in the 2012 draft – getting court time in Mike D’Antoni’s offense should be an interesting experiment to say the least. Here are two of Marshall’s best performances with the 87ers: 31 points, 10 assists, 9 rebounds 22 points, 15 assists .bottom-of-post-responsive { width: 300px; height: 250px; } @media(min-width: 500px) { .bottom-of-post-responsive { width: 300px; height: 250px; } } @media(min-width: 800px) { .bottom-of-post-responsive { width: 336px; height: 280px; } }
