The Washington Wizards are only $3 million under the salary cap and have 13 players on the roster, but they are still actively pursuing free agents willing to sign minimum level contracts to come play in D.C.
Michael Lee of The Washington Post floated a few names in his Wizards Insider column that are being considered for one of the final spots on Washington’s roster. Reportedly, former Minnesota Timberwolves forward Martell Webster participated in a workout at the Verizon Center this week. Webster was waived by Minnesota on July 13.
Nicknamed “The Definition,” Webster once was a standout high school basketball player at the Seattle Preparatory School. He opted to declare for the NBA Draft instead of honoring his agreement to play for the University of Washington. Highly regarded before the 2005 NBA Draft, Webster was drafted sixth by the Portland Trail Blazers.
