Found October 16, 2013 on Celtics Green ...a boston celtics blog.:
Yes, Kevin Garnett didn't play. Yes, Deron Williams and Andrei Kirilenko are sidelined. But, Rajon Rondo is also sidelined and the Celtics are a very young team and new to each other. And, the Celtics stayed right with the Nets throughout the game. They came up 2 points short at the end, but this season isn't about wins and losses as much as it is about development, and we saw some improvements and positives in this game. Sean Grande had the tweet of tne night as he documented the moment in time that Paul Pierce scored against the Celtics. And even though it seemed to a lot of fans as though the world would end when Paul Pierce was traded to a divisional foe, it continues to go on, even after Pierce played against his beloved Celtics. 8:40pm, October 15, 2013. Paul Pierce scores against the Celtics. Earth continues to rotate. — Sean Grande (@SeanGrandePBP) October 16, 2013 Pierce still loves the Celtics. He loves his former teammates and he will always bleed green, even though he's wearing black and white. Paul Pierce will always be a Celtic but for now, he's on loan to the Nets to give him a chance to win one more ring. From ESPN Boston: But Pierce misses Boston. He didn't say it explicitly when the Celtics visited the Barclays Center on Tuesday, but he didn't have to. How else do you explain how Pierce has made sure to watch a couple of Boston's exhibition games (most New Englanders aren't even watching these games)? Or why he got Jeff Green's phone number and plans to communicate with him during the season to help him navigate an increased role in the absence of Pierce and Kevin Garnett? Paul Pierce spent plenty of time catching up with his former Celtics teammates. Pierce burst into the Celtics' locker room 90 minutes before tipoff Tuesday to see old friends and ease a bit of that homesickness. He greeted Avery Bradley with a big smile and asked about the birth of his first child last month. Pierce then visited with Green and Brandon Bass and stressed the need for them to step up as locker room leaders this year. He even sought out staffers such as equipment manager John Connor and director of team security Phil Lynch to say hello. It's hard to watch Paul Pierce play for the Nets, but it's even harder for Paul Pierce to watch the Celtics play without him. But, enough of that. The Celtics continue to show some progress toward becoming a cohesive team. Brad Stevens used the same starting lineup for the second game in a row and that's something: Crawford, Bradley, Green, Bass and Sullinger. But, that doesn't mean that he is finished looking at different combinations as he still has work to do as he learns his team and the tendencies of each player. I love Gerald Wallace. I've always liked his game but I really like him as a Celtic. He plays defense and he hustles all out on the court. He was just 2-9 last night for 4 points but he also had 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal. His defense helped to disrupt the Nets on the other end and that's always a good thing. Avery Bradley is also turning up the defense and with Crawford helping out with the ball handling duties, Bradley is free to play his game and has looked better these past couple of games. Bradley finished with 7 points and 9 rebounds to go with 3 assists and 2 steals. Jared Sullinger had a slightly off game shooting just 2-6 for 6 points along with 2 assists and 3 steals but, he didn't grab a rebound and that is strange for him. Kris Humphries continues to do good things on the court with 12 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks. Kelly Olynyk is showing why he was a lottery pick with 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists, but he fouled out in just 19 minutes. Jordan Crawford continues to surprise and impress. He has taken the ball handling burden from Bradley and has been making good decisions with the ball. He finished the night with 10 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals. And, last but not least, Kris Humprhies wins the very first Tommy Award of his career. "He's become a hero with this ballclub. What he did tonight was give you all-out hustle." Kris Humphries wins the #TommyAward! — Tommy Heinsohn (@CSNTommy) October 16, 2013 [Discuss on CG Forums!]

Rondo isn’t as bad a shooter as you think

As if we needed yet another statistic in the NBA, we have the ShotScore – a Grantland writer’s method to identify the game’s best scorers. … the method compares the actual point yield of an individual NBA shooter against an estimated tally of what an average NBA shooter would accrue from that exact same set of shots. This is a useful way to evaluate shooting because unlike...

NBA Preview: Best players in the Atlantic Division

I was born in the fall of 1991, Larry Bird’s last season in a Celtics uniform, a year in which an aging and crippled Boston team made it to the second round of the playoffs before falling to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The next year, Kevin McHale retired after averaging only 10.7 points, his legs and back failing him. Young star Reggie Lewis died later that summer. The team went...

Kevin Garnett Cuts Ties With Boston, Lists His $4.85 Million Massachusetts Home

Ok, the “cutting of ties” isn’t really that intense, but as a diehard Brooklyn Nets fan this makes me very happy to see.  Newly acquired big man, leader, motivator, archangel, bad*ass, boss man, father figure, Kevin Garnett is has listed his Concord, Massachusetts mansion for $4.85 million. The house makes sense for a guy like KG, and according to Realtor: It is no surprise...

Kevin Garnett And Paul Pierce Used To Have Erectile Dysfunction Says Newspaper Ad

I knew that brand new Brooklyn Nets Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce were getting up there in age, but I had no idea that it was this bad. Guess they had problems getting up for games. [Deadspin] Article found on: Next Impulse Sports

Paul Pierce went to visit the Celtics locker room before the game because of course he did

A few hours before tip off, Paul Pierce walked to the visitor's locker room to visit friends as he had done hundreds of times before. This time was different though. Tonight marked the first time Pierce would be playing against the Boston Celtics as a member of the Brooklyn Nets. While most of the team was either in the weight room or on the court when Pierce came calling...

Rajon Rondo named 27th best player in NBA by ESPN, in between Dirk and Brook Lopez

We've talked about the #NBARank ESPN is putting together before. You know, the one where they list the top 500 players in the NBA, slowly counting them down over the past few months. We broke down most of the Celtics' ranks here. At that time, #500 through #90 had been counted down, and the only Cs not named were Jeff Green and Rajon Rondo. Green later came in at #83...

Kevin Garnett Fires Back At LeBron James

After defeating Miami 86-62 in a preseason matchup on Thursday night, Kevin Garnett fired back at LeBron James for the comments he made about KG and Paul Pierce leaving the Celtics. According to the NY Times: James stirred things a bit Wednesday, saying he found it interesting that Garnett and Pierce, who were critical of Allen’s decision to leave Boston, had now moved on from...

KG "fascinated" with amount of talent on Nets roster

Since being traded to the Nets during the offseason, Kevin Garnett hasn't exactly had the most glowing things to say about coming to Brooklyn. It's no secret that Garnett did not want to leave Boston and only did so because he was leaving with Paul Pierce as the Celtics began their rebuild after the "Big Three Part 2" era. Garnett was an amazing Celtic and will...

Report: MarShon Brooks ‘Wanted Out’ of Brooklyn Before Nets Traded Him to Celtics

Paul Pierce came close to tears. Kevin Garnett fought the deal to the end. But at least one player involved in the blockbuster traded between the Celtics and Nets could not have been happier to get a new address. In the early versions of the rumored traded on draft night, Nets big man Reggie Evans was reportedly headed to Boston. Evans, who is a fan favorite in Brooklyn, probably...

LeBron James calls out Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Doc Rivers

Thursday night at the Barclays Center a special pregame ceremony will be conducted prior to tip-off to retire the jersey of Brooklyn Nets head coach Jason Kidd. There is, however, another storyline that has captured the attention of many. The Miami Heat are coming to town, and will square off with the new-look Nets for the first time in the preseason. It will be the first time the...

Celtics emotionless for first game against Brooklyn

Staring at the computer screen with a blank look, like my state of mind right now. Empty a little bit, haven't we vented, and haven't we expressed are gratitude at great lengths for Pierce and Kevin. Emotionless? Like the faces I've see on the court in some of the preseason games this year. The sentences just will not form when I want to articulate Paul Pierce and Kevin...

LeBron says KG & Paul Pierce Criticized Ray Allen for Doing the Same thing They Just Did

Remember when Ray Allen left a lot of money on the table to bolt from Boston and take his talents to South Beach? Allen was destroyed by his former teammates, particularly Kevin Garnett. KG even admitted deleting Allen’s number. And remember this when they first played? The interesting thing now is the fact that Pierce […]

Comments from the Other Side - Nets 10/15

Well, the first game against Paul Pierce as a Net is in the books.  It was hard to watch him play on the other side, so I'm sure it was hard for him to play against his former team as well.  Nets fans were fairly civil towards the Celtics and their former players on the Celtics.  They still hate Courtney Lee, however.  I agree with them on one thing, though, that delay of...

Celtics-Raptors Live: Boston’s Young Players Look to Make Final Impressions as Regular Season Approaches

8 a.m. ET: The Celtics will play the second game of a back-to-back on Wednesday night in Toronto as they inch closer to the regular season. Boston lost a close contest 82-80 to Paul Pierce and the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday, and the Celtics now must face an improving Raptors team that beat them in the preseason opener at TD Garden. With only three preseason games left on the schedule...
