PLAYERS: Yao MingJeremy Lin
TEAMS: Houston Rockets
Jeremy Lin considers Yao Ming to be a role model and sought guidance from him throughout last season. The two became close thanks to the their Asian roots, and Yao even said he tried to sign Lin to his Chinese team during the lockout. Now Lin is following Yao’s career path by signing with the Rockets, and the former All-Star center thinks that will be a good career move for the point guard. “I’m so glad the Knicks didn’t match the contract,” Yao told the New York Times. “Houston is a good place for Jeremy to come to. It’s a good fit because both sides can provide the best opportunity for each other. “In Houston, we have a very good community and great fans,” Yao said. “With less media coverage, I think it made me focus more on basketball. I think that’s one reason I played so well.” Lin recently admitted that Linsanity got to his head last year. Playing in New York with all the media and attention is a big reason why he blew up, but it also results in many distractions. Being in Hous

Jeremy Lin speaks on Linsanity, Knicks and Rockets

Linsanity was huge because Jeremy Lin was balling out. There may have been a perfect storm in play, he may not ever be able to specifically duplicate that run, and history may tell us that Mike D'Antoni had a bigger hand in orchestrating the whole affair than anybody's ever given him credit for. But Jeremy Lin is still a good player. Maybe not an All Star, but certainly not...

Lin: 'Linsanity' got into my head

"Linsanity" took everyone by storm last season -- Jeremy Lin included. Say what you want about Lin's basketball potential, but the Harvard product is one of the more grounded players in the NBA. So, despite his controversial exit from New York, which was the subject of much debate, he's willing to look back candidly at what has been a crazy year. Lin admitted...

Jeremy Lin admits Lin-Sanity went to his head

Jeremy Lin has been opening up about a bevy of issues ranging from how he felt when New York didn’t match the Rockets’ offer to his time with the Knicks. He has also commetned on his love for the New York fans and also is opening up about Lin-Sanity last year. He does admit, [...]

Report: Omer Asik Joins Jeremy Lin in Houston as Rockets Offer Another Three-Year, $25 Million Deal

What is it with the Rockets offering three years and $25 million to players? OK, so the NBA's rules and pay structure obviously have something to do with the symmetrical numbers. But it's still a little interesting that, just after nabbing Jeremy Lin from the Knicks when New York declined to match, the Rockets may be picking up another player whose former team won't match...

Scola says Rockets going big or going young

The Rockets have been at the front of the offseason. Whether it was getting involved in Dwight Howard rumors or going after and signing Jeremy Lin, you cannot fault Daryl Morey for going out there and being active. Houston has been a middle of the Western Conference team for the better part of a decade. Always good enough to compete for a Playoff spot, never quite good enough to...

Jared Sullinger's Projection Hinges on Health, Knicks' Financial Fallacies and LeBron James as NBA All-Time Great

Unlike the U.S. Postal Services, there are no delivery issues with the Celtics mailbag. The questions have not come as frequently since the season came to a close, which is not surprising considering the disappointing way the season ended for the Celtics. If it took you a while to get over that Game 7 defeat, we understand. Still, a lot has happened between now and then. The Celtics...

NY Knicks 2012-2013 schedule announced

The New York Knicks 2012-2013 regular season schedule was announced last night. Their first game of the season will start November 1st against the Brooklyn Nets in the new Barclays Center. In all honesty, I expected the Knicks to play the Nets in Brooklyn. This is the matchup that the NBA wanted to schedule on opening night. Let's hope this starts a new rivalry between...

Things we hope to see in the 2013 schedule

Tonight at 7 p.m. ET, the NBA will release the schedule for the 2012-13 season. This is not such a momentous occassion. After all, the 82-game schedule rarely changes as teams play each other virtually the same amount every year. There is little variability in a team's schedule. Some of the schedule is already leaking out too. We know the Nets will open the Barclays Center in...

Rockets Sign Omer Asik

After prying away Jeremy Lin from the New York Knicks, the Rockets have now managed to do the same with big man Omer Asik from the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls decided not to match the three-year, $25 million offer sheet given to Asik by the Rockets. The offer now popularly known as the “poison pill” contract [...]

Top 5 games on NBA Schedule

1.Thunder at Heat (Dec. 25th) These teams are still clearly the two best teams in the NBA. This will be a rematch of last year’s NBA final in which the Heat won in 5 games. All 5 games were pretty close. LeBron James finally got his ring could this be the year Kevin Durant gets his? Durant and James are also very good friends. 2.Celtics at Heat (Oct. 30th) This was...
