According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Tennessee Titans have used their franchise tag on safety Michael Griffin to keep in on the team for at least one more season, which means cornerback Cortland Finnegan is likely to become a free agent on March 13.

Titans placed their franchise tag on safety Michael Griffin, not cornerback Cortland Finnegan. 25 minutes ago via WhoSay · Reply · Retweet · Favorite · powered by @socialditto

Finnegan, along with the Chiefs' Brandon Carr, is considered one of the top cornerbacks to hit free agency when the 2012 league year begins in a little over a week. The Bengals have been linked to Finnegan as they need a cornerback and they have the money to spend in free agency to improve themselves. However, spending a load of money on top-tier free agents, especially when they have two first-round draft picks to use, has never been their style. I would love to be proven wrong, though.

Would you be a fan of seeing Finnegan frustrate wide receivers while wearing stripes?

Tennessee Titans will part ways with DB Cortland Finnegan

CB Cortland Finnegan did not receive the Tennessee Titans franchise tag yesterday, that went to S Michael Griffin. It now appears that the Tennessee Titans are going to part ways with the veteran defensive back. According to the Tennessean newspaper, the franchise is not going to offer Finnegan a contract prior to the start of free agency on March 13th. Finnegan was...

Moss impresses Saints in workout

The wide receiver reportedly looked "like the old Moss" during his workout in front of Saints personnel, clocking in at about 4.39-4.40 seconds during a 40-yard dash.

The holes on the Titans' depth chart heading to free agency

Just to provide a sort of perspective to the offseason overview, I took a look at the final regular season unofficial depth chart and noted which players were not under contract in 2012.Holes Filled Since the End of the Regular SeasonWR1-2: There are two starting WR slots, which are semi-arbitratily designated WR1 and WR2. Lavelle Hawkins was re-signed to fill this spot.LT-2/RT-2...

Why Mario Williams could become a Tennessee Titan

Ordinarily the Tennessee Titans organization has not participated in the bidding for high profile, high dollar free agents and new General Manager Ruston Webster seems unlikely to change that corporate philosophy. Circumstances are such, though, that Titans owner Bud Adams may now enthusiastically bid for one.  While he would customarily leave personnel decisions up to his football...

Assessing the free agent defensive end class from a Titans perspective

As Andrew noted in his positional analysis for the defensive ends, and as every Titans fan knows, the only Titans regular at defensive end in 2011 who is currently under contract for 2012 is Derrick Morgan. Malcolm Sheppard, who played both defensive end and defensive tackle, is an exclusive rights free agent and thus won't be going to another team unless the Titans decide they...

Moss Impressive In Workout

After a year away from football, former Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss is trying to catch on with a team. Moss' recent workout for the New Orleans Saints went well.

Vote: How Many Touchdowns Will Randy Moss Catch With Saints in 2012?

Life seems a little more exciting now that former New England Patriot Randy Moss is back in the headlines. At this point, Moss is basically his own rumor mill, creating story after story, without even stepping foot onto a football field. Maybe this time is different. The most recent rumor has Moss linked to the New Orleans Saints. The once-great receiver was scheduled to work out...

Notebook: Finnegan, Moss, pro days and more

Titans CB Cortland Finnegan is getting closer to the free-agent market, only one week away. What’s he thinking and what will it take to sign him? Plus, Randy Moss reportedly had a strong workout for the Saints, Bountygate grows, a key pro day update and more.

Report: Cortland Finnegan likely headed to the Buccaneers

According to Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports, it looks like Titans cornerback Cortland Finnegan will end up landing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers once he becomes a free agent on March 13th. Cole indicated that Finnegan is also recruiting Chargers receiver Vincent Jackson to join him in Tampa. The addition of Finnegan and Jackson would give the Buccaneers the go to receiver and shut down...

Cortland Finnegan Recruiting Vincent Jackson to Tampa?

Free agent cornerback Cortland Finnegan has reportedly been texting fellow free agent Vincent Jackson and trying to convince him to accompany him to whichever team he chooses. According to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports, that team could very well be the Bucs, who are in desperate need of a wide receiver and could use a corner as well with much uncertainty at the position. The Bucs...
