With the start of the 2013 NFL regular season just about two months away, let’s take an early look at the fantasy football landscape—ranking the Top 20 running backs in the game. Photo Credit: Vikings.com 1. Adrian Peterson (Minnesota Vikings) An injury that could threaten the career of most NFL running backs was shrugged off by “All Day” like a hangnail.  All Peterson did was challenge the NFL’s single-season rushing record with 2,097 yards while posting his sixth straight season with double-digit touchdowns. 2. Arian Foster (Houston Texans) Foster scored a total of 17 touchdowns (15 TDs on the ground) in 2012.  He had 1,424 rushing yards and caught the exact same number of passes (40) for the exact same amount of yards (217) as Peterson.  While his 400-yard drop in receiving yards from 2011 may be a slight cause for concern, Foster is still coming off three consecutive monster years. Vikings hoping Packers' gamble is their gain with LB Desmond Bishop

The Green Bay Packers rolled the dice when they released linebacker Desmond Bishop and it could backfire twice if he proves to be fully recovered with the Minnesota Vikings. The team felt Bishop was expendable after a severe hamstring injury, but economics surely played a large role in the decision. So now, this decision might backfire. Bishop signed a one-year; prove he’s...

Udeze is an inspirational coach for the Vikings

I hate writing in the first person. I was a journalism major in the eighties.  My professors were all old guys who at some point were wearing fedoras with their press pass in their hat bands.  At that time is was all about objective reporting.  The writer was only supposed to write the facts, and let the readers make up their own opinions. If I didn’t turn...

Kyle Rudolph Looks To Become Elite Tight End in 2013

Obviously, a brilliant Pro Bowl appearance is not the best measure of future success, but Kyle Rudolph‘s five receptions for 122 yards and a touchdown en route to the MVP honors gave a glimpse into his potential. There were times during the 2012 season when the Minnesota Vikings tight end flashed that same brilliance, particularly when he scored five touchdowns in the first six...

Second year TE Kyle Rudolph is ready to build on impressive rookie season

Tight end Kyle Rudolph’s became a favorite target of QB Christian Ponder in 2012 and the second year player feels he can do more. His confidence is soaring after a rookie season that saw him being selected to the Pro Bowl. Along with fellow tight end John Carlson, the Vikings have a formidable 1-2 punch at the tight end position and that should help the young Ponder grow in...

DE Jared Allen is 'all systems go' for training camp: ‘I’m ready to rock and roll’

Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen is all systems go for the first day of training camp; however, he’s not exactly happy about it. Though training camp is watered down from the new CBA, where two-a-day practices are gone and full contact is limited. It’s still grind veteran players say they could do without. Allen said that his surgically repaired shoulder is on...

The Unusual Nature of Jared Allen’s Contract Year

In today’s NFL it is rare to see a player play out the length of a big-money contract. Since NFL teams have the right to cut players at any time with relatively little repercussions because NFL player contracts are not fully guaranteed, what initially may seem like a large financial sum often does not dictate what a player will actually be receiving; instead, a look at the guaranteed...

Lito Sheppard: Donovan McNabb puked during Super Bowl

Many have wondered whether or not Donovan McNabb lost his lunch during the waning minutes of Super Bowl XXXIX. Thanks to Lito Sheppard, you can wonder no more. In a recent appearance on WIP radio, the former Eagles cornerback confirmed that McNabb did indeed puke. "Yes," said Sheppard, via Philly.com. "He did." McNabb has consistently denied tossing his cookies...

Hondo Mocks Brett Favre and his Small Penis

Hondo: Packers President Mark Murphy says the team will retire Brett Favre’s No. 4 before 2016, the year he is eligible for the NFL Hall of Fame. Coincidentally, Li’l Brett, who was given a cyber... Full story at Bob's Blitz ~ http://www.bobsblitz.com

Minnesota Vikings: Secondary on the rise

(Photo by: Hannah Foslien/Getty Images) A theme has been present for years with the Minnesota Vikings defense. They could stop the run but couldn’t cover an ant with a piece of paper. After taking a look at the team on the field and by the numbers I believe things are looking up for the secondary. Things looked difficult with the sure tackling, always injured Antoine Winfield leaving...

Jared Allen apparently hates training camp

Ask almost any NFL veteran how excited they are about heading into training camp, and they'll almost unanimously tell you, "Not at all." That's why it's no surprise that Jared Allen apparently hates the idea of getting ready for camp too. "Unfortunately, yes," Allen said on NFL AM when he was asked if his surgically repaired shoulder would be ready...

Before They Were Pros: CB Xavier Rhodes

Xavier Rhodes had a strong showing at offseason practices, but even before he was a Vikings CB he said he was “not a typical corner.” See what else he had to say at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Purple People Apparel: Who Hearts MN Football?!

Welcome to another edition of Purple Jesus Diaries "Purple People Apparel" where we like to highlight different clothing and apparel options that have to do with the Minnesota Vikings, frequently in an effort to divert your hard earned dollars from the atrocities and instead towards a better spent option. I say frequently, because every once in a while we come across some...

Is John McCain the Greatest American Hero?

Since the Minnesota Vikings have the greatest fans in the world, sell out every single game during every single season (something like that, I'm pretty sure that's true), and are generally better than everyone else, we Vikings fans don't really understand what these things called "blackouts" are when it comes to football. I mean, when we're talking about...

Sunday slant: Returning WRs 'above average'

The NFL’s advanced statistics show the Vikings kept their most productive receivers and moved on with their least productive, and that goes beyond the basic receiving numbers. Those that helped the offense, not just with their catches, are back; and the acquisition of Greg Jennings is a key component in helping both the running game and passing game.
