San Francisco quarterback Colt McCoy went from the out house to the penthouse in one offseason. Mired in the quarterback mess in Cleveland, he now has a warm and comfy role as the No. 2 QB on the 49ers roster. Working with a QB master in Jim Harbaugh, McCoy’s career is getting back on track, he knows what is expected from him and that there isn’t any musical chairs going on. McCoy is entering his fourth NFL season  and he started 21 games his first two seasons with the Browns, however, he received a familiar face in coach Eric Mangini, hired this week as a 49ers offensive consultant. Mangini felt McCoy had the potential in Cleveland, but once he was fired, McCoy fell into the black pit called the Browns QB competition with Brandon Weeden. That is all behind him now and he has shown that he’s not only capable; he’s thriving in Harbaugh’s offense. "In my role, I'd love to help him in any way I can," McCoy said, via Matt Maiocca of CSN Bay Area. "We com...

Vernon Davis: Super Bowl loss ‘drives us’

San Francisco 49ers All-Pro linebacker NaVorro Bowman and tight end Vernon Davis have no desire to watch, review or think about Super Bowl XLVII. “I let it go,” said the 49ers leading tackler of the past two seasons.  “It still haunts us.” “It took me about two months to get it out

Colt McCoy solidifying his spot as the 49ers No. 2 quarterback

According to CSNBayArea.com, 49ers back up quarterback Colt McCoy has continued to take hold of the number two job behind Colin Kaepernick.  He also wants to help Colin as much as he can this season. “In my role, I’d love to help him in any way I can,” McCoy said. “We communicate on the field. 49ers TE Vance McDonald is a sappy romantic

Vance McDonald was only drafted by the 49ers less than two months ago, but the tight end is already putting the Bay Area’s picturesque land marks to use. He recently proposed to his girlfriend, Kendi Davis, on the Golden Gate Bridge. Kind of a trite place to do that sort of thing. But all that matters here is LOVE. From Cam Inman, romance novelist: “I was like, ‘What better...

Mangini's location helped him return to NFL

Eric Mangini landed his new job with the San Francisco 49ers in part because he never left Northeast Ohio after being fired as Browns head coach following the 2010 season. Over the last two seasons, the 49ers have not only been one of the NFL's best teams but also unofficially have been Ohio's third NFL team. In both 2011 and 2012, the 49ers spent almost a full week in Youngstown...
