The Vikings had a very disappointing game in Detroit, that they ended up losing 34-24. While the offense and Christian Ponder struggled mightily, there were plenty of other areas that need to step up their play if the Vikings have any chance of winning this Sunday against the Bears.
5. Jeff Locke’s Punting
The Lions routinely had excellent starting field position throughout the game last Sunday and that had a lot to do with the poor punting of Jeff Locke. Locke punted the ball 5 times with a paltry average of 34.8 yards. The Lions benefited by starting many drives from anywhere from their own 45 yard line, to just inside Vikings territory. Locke has to return to his preseason form as the Vikings cannot afford to give away that field position to a team like the Bears.
4. Pass Rush
The Lions don’t exactly have a top notch offensive line, but they held the Vikings in check throughout the entire game, and held Jared Allen to only one sack. The defensive line is supposed to be a st...
