5 Jaguars Have Practice Squad Contracts Expire
USA TODAY Sports

The Jacksonville Jaguars saw five contracts expire on their practice squad this week, according to the NFL's transaction wire.

The following players are no longer on the Jaguars' roster:

  • RB Snoop Conner
  • QB E.J. Perry
  • WR Jacob Harris
  • C James Murray
  • DL Henry Mondeaux

The biggest name -- and the only draft pick -- on this list is Conner.

In 2022, the Jaguars sent two sixth-round picks (No. 188 overall and No. 198 overall) to the Philadelphia Eagles, moving up to No. 154 to pick the Ole Miss running back. Conner then played in eight games for the Jaguars, recording 12 carries for 42 yards and one touchdown.

Conner did not make the Jaguars' 53-man roster to open the 2023 season, meaning his four-year rookie deal was then negated. He was re-signed to the practice squad, but Conner was not active for the Jaguars after the additions of third-round rookie running back Tank Bigsby and free-agent veteran D'Ernest Johnson.

With Johnson also a free-agent, the only current running backs on the Jaguars' roster are Bigsby and running back Travis Etienne.

Another notable name is Perry, who spent 2022 as the Jaguars' No. 3 quarterback and primary practice squad passer. Perry was one of the biggest signings of the undrafted free agency process, but he was replaced by Nathan Rourke in 2023.

After Rourke was waived and then claimed by the New England Patriots on waivers, the Jaguars added Perry back to their practice squad. This time, he was the No. 4 quarterback behind veteran free-agent addition Matt Barkley, who is also a pending free agent.
