Keith Allison Flickr Page Even with a short week and more people showing up on the injured report each day, I’m confident that the New England Patriots will head into the weekend with a 2-0 record.  Here are 5 of my reasons: Kenbrell Thompkins is going to be the player we thought he could be.  Thinking back to Sunday’s game, I don’t think he played as poorly as some people are saying.  One of the first times he was targeted in the game, the officials missed one of the easiest calls of the day as he was held.  Obviously, officials are going to miss calls, but if you’ve already got the jitters and then they start missing easy calls like that, it’s not going to help your confidence or the confidence of the man throwing you the ball.  He’s also getting a lot of grief about getting his feet down in the field of play.  I agree, he needs to do a better job of that overall.  However, on the sideline play where he didn’t get his second foot down, I can’t really blame him.  Looking at the way his body and the defender’s body were positioned at the end of the play, he probably would have been sidelined with a torn ACL if he had in fact tried to tap down his toe. The Patriots defense is going to continue playing well, forcing turnovers and stopping the New York Jets on 3rd downs.  Overall they looked pretty good on Sunday even if the final score did not reflect that.  The few times they made mistakes, the Buffalo Bills took advantage and the defense paid severely by giving up a touchdown.  I doubt we’ll see many mistakes this week, and if we, do I don’t think the Jets will capitalize on them as easily.    Stevan Ridley is a very capable running back and is going to step up and get the job done against the Jets.  If he does happen to lose the ball, it isn’t going to turn into an immediate touchdown.  Personally, I don’t think he got benched for the physical mistake of dropping the ball.  The way he lost his footing it was pretty much lose the ball or suffer an injury.  I think Belichick had him sit because he made the mental mistake of “assuming” the play was over when it wasn’t.  Tom Brady is not going to have another off game.  Although he was vintage Brady at the end of the game, he didn’t play as well as usual.  One play Tom would probably like back was during the 2nd quarter when he completely overthrew his wide open target.  Brady’s struggles weren’t just caused by the rookie receivers not knowing where to go.  On the Patriots second possession of the second quarter, Brady had an awful lot of pressure coming from the blind side and the Patriots ended up having a quick 3 and out.  Moreover, I promise not to pick up Tom on any fantasy teams this week because I do tend to jinx him. The Patriots are not going to give the Jets good field possession.  First of all, ball security will be better than it was last week so the Jets will not be benefiting from our mistakes.  Second of all, Stephen Gostkowski will do the same thing he did last week, kicking the ball deep into the endzone so there is not a return.  Finally, when he does need to punt, Ryan Allen will be more successful with both his directional punts and pinning the Jets inside their 20. New England Patriots look to cure what’s ailing them.

In a shortened week many doubt the New England Patriots chances against the New York Jets, and rightly so. The Patriots were awful on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills. Josh Boyce, Kenbrell Thompkins Have to Step Up For Patriots on Thursday Against Jets With Injuries Plaguing Offense

FOXBORO, Mass. — The Patriots did a nice job of avoiding catastrophic injuries during the summer, but some nagging ailments have created holes in the depth chart on offense. Brady and receivers not on the same page

Tough times got even tougher for the New England offense Thursday night as Tom Brady and company struggled to move the ball down the field in a 13-10 Patriots win over the Jets. Curran discussed after the game...

Report: Danny Amendola Could Miss up to Six Weeks With Groin Injury

This is not the news Tom Brady was hoping to hear. After connecting with Danny Amendola 10 times for over 100 yards in Week 1, it appears the two may not be linking up again for some time.
