  • I don't know if I am getting old, but why is this here? People may think Troy has something to do with it with his picture right next to it, and while it may seem like a small thing some people take their religion very seriously. I recently went to a high school football game at a Catholic school and during this time of year people dress up for Halloween, so a few morons who happen to live in my town dressed up like the Pope and another one dressed in a way that many would associate as the likeness of Jesus. Now I am not a Catholic but I felt bad for the Catholics that were there because they obviously feel very strongly about the Pope and Jesus and I'm sure they did not appreciate the act of stupidity. But to their credit they acted like they didn't even see it because saying anything about it, it might be perceived that they acted with poor taste. You are probably wondering what this has to do with the article; and the problem is, if you knew, you wouldn't have written it in the first place.

Roethlisberger Didn’t Notice Pressure Coming From Whimper’s Side Against The Ravens

When Pittsburgh Steelers right tackle Marcus Gilbert left the game Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens after just seven offensive snaps with a quad injury, everyone held their breath when Guy Whimper replaced him. Whimper, however, played extremely well and played a big role in the team rushing for a season-high 141 yards. As far as his pass protection went, Whimper only allowed...

G David DeCastro becoming key player in resurgent run game

The Pittsburgh Steelers' running game is showing signs of life due to rookie RB Le'Veon Bell's return form injury and an improved performance by the offensive line led by guard David DeCastro. His teammates say DeCastro is only beginning to scratch the surface and that he's already one of the top guards in the NFL. For Decastro, he say it's all about learning...

William Gay's second stint with Steelers paying dividends

Veteran cornerback William Gay's contribution to the Steelers secondary as of late has the team hopeful about the rest of the season. He came through big in last week's last-second victory over the Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens, denying QB Joe Flacco two TD throws that could have left the Steelers in an irretrievable mess at 1-5, writes Ralph N. Paulk of the Tribune-Review.

Ben Roethlisberger isn’t crazy about running the wildcat

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger made it clear on his weekly radio show that he’s not crazy about running the Wildcat. “It’s not that I don’t like it,” Roethlisberger said Tuesday on his radio show, per SteelCityInsider.net via NFL.com. “If it helps us win, I’m all for it. I just told coach I get actually physically tired running out to wide receiver all the...

Pittsburgh Steelers almost selected Terrelle Pryor in the Supplemental Draft

According to a report from the San Jose Mercury News, via the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Pryor turned down an opportunity to be selected by his hometown Pittsburgh Steelers and head coach Mike Tomlin in the 2011 NFL supplemental draft. “(Tomlin) said, ‘Hey, I’ll draft you if you want to play here,’” Pryor said. “But he gave […]

Steelers Injury Report: Beachum And Gilbert Practice Fully After Being Limited Wednesday

The Pittsburgh Steelers have released their Thursday injury report following their practice and it includes some very good news. After being limited on Wednesday, tackle Kelvin Beachum (ribs), tackle Marcus Gilbert (quadricep), tight end Richard Gordon (toe), defensive end Brett Keisel (ribs) and tight end Heath Miller (not injury related) all practiced fully and all look to be on...

Kelvin Beachum Settling In At Left Tackle

By Matthew Marczi Second-year tackle Kelvin Beachum made only his second career start as a left tackle in the ranks of the professionals this past week, but he spent his entire college career as a left tackle before playing right tackle, left guard, center, and tight end in the NFL. I don’t know whether Beachum is left-handed or right-handed, but I honestly don’t care at this...

Steelers Versus Raiders Week 8 Projected Inactive List

The Pittsburgh Steelers will take on the Oakland Raiders Sunday at O.co Coliseum and below is a best guess as to what the inactive list will look like this week. The official list of inactives will be announced 90 minutes before kickoff. Landry Jones - Ho, hum, just another week inactive for Jones. Marcus Wheaton - Wheaton was ruled out for the Raiders game on Tuesday as he has...

Raiders' McCants makes second start

Oakland right tackle Matt McCants isn't making too much of his matchup this week against Pittsburgh linebacker LaMarr Woodley. Not that the Raiders rookie has anything against Woodley. He's just trying to keep it all in perspective. Two weeks after making his first NFL start against one of the league's top defenses in Kansas City, McCants draws the unenviable task of...

Pittsburgh Steelers: Raiders Are a Fitting Halloween Opponent

The Pittsburgh Steelers sure are getting into the spirit of Halloween. First they hosted the Baltimore Ravens, a team named for a foreboding bird in American literature. The Steelers tricked the Ravens with the wildcat, and treated their fans to a win at Heinz Field. On Sunday, the Steelers visit the Oakland Raiders. What better setting than the Black Hole for a game played four...

Steelers offensive lineman DeCastro has guarded optimism

The Steelers aren't quite ready to compare David DeCastro to Alan Faneca the best offensive guard in team history and a nine-time Pro Bowl selection. In a few weeks? Maybe. The Steelers' running game is being revived because of Le'Veon Bell's post-injury breakout and a rapidly improving blocking unit led by DeCastro. In less than a full season as a starter DeCastro...

LaMarr Woodley Contributes To Winning Effort Against Ravens

By Matthew Marczi Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker LaMarr Woodley is being asked to do more for the team than he ever has, now that he is being counted upon to generate the majority of the team’s pressures, or so it seems. Fellow outside linebackers Jason Worilds and Jarvis Jones still have a long way to go to catch up to Woodley’s level as a pass rusher, which continued...

Steelers Recent History Against Raiders Not So Good

Nice one here by Mike Prisuta, he of Steelers.com and many other affiliates that provide coverage on the Black and Gold, that examines the Steelers recent history with the Oakland Raiders. The matchup, as you might fail to remember due to trauma, is currently skewed toward Oakland. The Raiders have won 3 of the last 4 meetings, two in Oakland and one at Heinz Field. The...
