New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez has found himself at the center of a murder investigation and as more news trickles out about the situation, things are beginning to look worse and worse for the 23-year-old. The latest news, according to several outlets, is that Hernandez destroyed his home security system – one that included surveillance cameras – and a cell phone he used. Hernandez’s attorneys reportedly turned in his mobile phone “in pieces.” Massachusetts state police are now returning to his home with a warrant based on the fact that he destroyed his home security system. An ABC News report also claims that a “team of house cleaners was hired on Monday to scrub his mansion.” On Wednesday night it was reported that Hernandez was driving a car with three other men, one of whom was Odin Lloyd, who died several hours later. Lloyd, a 27-year-old semi-pro football player, was later identified as a homicide victim. His body was discovered close to Hernandez’s home and Fox 25 is reporting that “forensic evidence places a vehicle driven by Hernandez at one of the crime scenes in this case.” Hernandez has not been named as a suspect, but multiple links have been reported between him and Lloyd’s death. WBZ-TV also reports that Hernandez was initially cooperative with the investigation but has since hired the Boston law firm of Ropes and Gray and his cooperation has ceased. In another development, a law-enforcement official told Fox 25 that Hernandez left a Boston bar in a car with Lloyd and two other men in the hours before Lloyd’s body was discovered. The source additionally claimed that Lloyd sent a text that reference Hernandez. Three men returned to Hernandez’s home, but Lloyd wasn’t one of them. WBZ-TV is also reporting that a neighbor of Lloyd claims they had seen Hernandez in the neighborhood and that Lloyd dated the sister of Hernandez’s girlfriend. Shayanna Jenkins has been identified as Hernandez’s girlfriend and she is the mother of his infant daughter. Her sister has been identified as Shanea Jenkins. Hernandez is also named in a lawsuit in Florida, which has been refiled in federal court, claiming that Hernandez shot a man in the face that caused him numerous injuries. The suit was originally filed on June 13, but four days later it was dismissed because of a paperwork error. Alexander Bradley claims he and Hernandez were with a group in February at Tootsie’s club in Miami this past February. The two men reportedly got into an argument and as they were driving to Palm Beach County, Bradley alleges that Hernandez shot him with a handgun, causing him to lose his right eye.
