All-Pro CB urges Ravens to revitalize wild uniform combo

Several NFL teams will sport different uniform combos in 2023, and All-Pro cornerback Marlon Humphrey is urging the Baltimore Ravens to do the same.

Responding to a tweet asking the Ravens to bring back their mustard yellow pants, Humphrey responded with a resounding "Please," in all caps, fit with four e's too many. So, you know he's serious.

The Ravens wore the mustard-colored pants, which the team described as gold, only once after adopting them to commemorate the franchise's 20th anniversary in 2015. The game didn't go the Ravens' way, falling to the Kansas City Chiefs in a lopsided Week 15 affair, 34-14, despite out-gaining the AFC foe, 366-277.

The loss was one of many for the Ravens, who finished 5-11 that season. Head coach John Harbaugh suggested to ESPN that the team's success, or lack thereof, was why the mustard (or gold) pants weren't featured more heavily that season.

"If we'd been doing a little bit better, you might have seen them a little bit sooner," Harbaugh said.

Suffering a bad loss at home in the only game wearing the black helmet, purple jersey and gold pant combo would be reason enough to shelf the look for good. However, things have changed since then. For example, Jimmy Clausen was the Ravens quarterback that day, while Terrance West (35 yards) and Kamar Aiken (128 yards) led the team in rushing and receiving. Chances are the combination of time and a guy named Lamar Jackson might be enough to change the Ravens' luck should they choose to rock the gold again.

When it comes to taste, the look might not be for everyone. After all, Joe Flacco said he was happy to avoid playing in the gold britches. However, as time passes, what's old is new again, and what was deemed unflattering is now so bad it's good.

So, why not? Let's bring them back.
