The Kansas City Chiefs came out firing, trading for Alex Smith and then blitzing free agency early. Andy Reid now is starting to focus on what he does best, the NFL Draft.
According to Chris Wesseling of NFL.com, Reid is starting to manipulate the top 10, and anybody who really wants their top guy has to go through the Chiefs and Reid knows it.
The Kansas City coach spoke about having the first overall pick and that just because they traded for Smith, the other Smith isn’t out of the question. Wesseling writes:
‘That leverage may have been in the back of head coach Andy Reid's mind Tuesday when he claimed that West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith is not "out of the water" as one of eight or 10 draft possibilities despite the recent trade for Alex Smith.
"I'm going to keep my eyes open on everybody. I think Geno is a good quarterback," Reid said.
"We'll just see how it all goes, get this workout thing going."
Translation: If you want the draft's top quarterback prospect, come get him.'
