DENVER—A few weeks ago, the trade rumors in regards to Philadelphia Eagles corner Asante Samuel started to swirl like a pinwheel.
With the team having two other top flights CB’s on their roster in Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Samuel feeling displaced thanks to these acquisitions last year, the obvious conclusion was being overstated.
Today it surfaced that the Broncos could have initially been a primary partner in the ongoing talks with the Eagles.

The Eagles are reportedly desperate to unload Asante Samuel, and it is believed they would take as little as a third-round pick at this point just to get rid of him.
The Philadelphia Eagles found a partner in the Denver Broncos willing to trade for Pro Bowl corner Asante Samuel, per NFL sources. But Denver’s low offer–a 5th or 6th round player or an unnamed player–wasn’t the straw that broke the camel’s back.
Per the Inquirer’s Jeff MacLane, the deal fell through because the Broncos and Samuel couldn’t come to terms:

Earlier today we learned that the Philadelphia Eagles are still shopping cornerback Asante Samuel.
According to John Clayton of ESPN via Evan Silva, the Eagles are hoping to receive a third round pick in exchange for Samuel.
“They hope to get a 3rd-round pick … This could be one of those 2nd-day, 3rd-day draft-day trades,” said Clayton.
