WR Roddy White returned to practice this week after being away for three weeks due to hamstring and ankle injuries. He says that, “I’ll be ready to play.” And if so, it’s something for Falcons fans to be very excited about. When Roddy returns the Falcons will have another true offensive threat come back to the offense. Matt Ryan will have two of his trusted sidekicks back with him. This will ease some of the pressure that Ryan has on him and now allow for a better set of wide receivers.  Roddy’s return is just in time. When playing the Seattle Seahawks, a team has to have a nice set of wideouts when going up against that secondary. And the Falcons didn’t have that nice set of wide outs before this week. None of the youngsters would’ve been able to go head to head with CB Richard Sherman. Now that Roddy is back, everyone gets to anticipate Roddy vs. Sherman Part 2. The stakes are much different than the first matchup, but it’s exciting nevertheless. Let’s recap: both White and Sherman love to trash talk to say the least, and it was the divisional round of the playoffs. Seattle was going to be traveling to the Georgia Dome to find out who would go the NFC Championship. Sherman and White were both interviewed on NFL Network, and Roddy being the guy he is, was simply stating how he and Julio are an unstoppable force to be reckoned with. Sherman in his interview, (to sum it up) said that they could take them on, no problem. When it came down to game day, White caught a touchdown pass on Sherman and while everyone should’ve been celebrating the touchdown, the two had a little mouth off, and the Dome went nuts. Roddy won. That’s not what he returned for; he came back for the Falcons, which is commendable. He has already said just him being on the field helps his team a lot, even if he’s not 100%. But now that he is healthy, he’s going to take a lot of the pressure off of the other guys like wide receivers Harry Douglas and Drew Davis. When all is said and done, I’m sorry Mr. White, but everyone who watches the game will be looking forward to that matchup that pits two of the NFL’s elite against one another. I’m trusting that Roddy’s return will help lead the team a positive next couple of weeks. Also, anticipate LB Sean Weatherspoon’s return next week to the field.
