If you had any doubt that New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was the Yoda of the NFL these opening weeks of training camp have provided some classic examples of Bill Belichick playing chess while the rest of the league is playing checkers. The past couple training camps the New England Patriots have made it a habit to host joint practices with other NFL teams.  Typically it will be with a team whose head coach is a friend of Pats coach Bill Belichick. This preseason we have seen the the Patriots practice with the Philadelphia Eagles and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who also practiced with the Pats last year. Eagles coach Chip Kelly is from New England and is believed to have had some influence on the Patriots super up-tempo offense we witnessed last year. So what does the gregarious and welcoming Bill Belichick do? He gets the first year NFL head coach to practice against the Patriots. Who better to watch implement a fast tempo offense into a NFL scheme than the man who...

Tim Tebow not stressing looming cuts

It’s no secret that New England Patriots QB Tim Tebow has reveled himself to be not very good.   As his preseason performances get worse and cuts loom large, Tebow is not concerned about whether or not he will be around when the regular season starts in under two weeks.   Please click here to read this story. Patriots’ Issues With Turnovers Should Not Be Problem After Bill Belichick Took Swift Action Addressing Them

Bill Belichick had some slight of hand under his fully-intact sleeves Thursday night. After Zach Sudfeld, Shane Vereen and Brandon Bolden coughed up the football, the Patriots’ head coach made all three players disappear. Sudfeld and Vereen were not seen again until the fourth quarter, while Bolden stayed on the bench for the remainder of the game. Apparently Tom Brady and Aaron...

Jets Give Players Cards Telling Them How to Answer Media With List of Cliches, Evasions (Photos)

This may have been expected coming from the New England Patriots and Bill Belichick. But the Jets? The Jets have handed out laminated cards to their players, with each side full of handy phrases for when players need to chit-chat with reporters. The purpose of the “media bridge” cards is obscure — do the Jets really think players need help with basic introductory or transition...

Belichick: DBs more versatile than in past

BY NICK ST. DENISThanks to some trial an error over the past couple years, the New England Patriots' defensive backs have gained experience playing in multiple spots. And thanks to that experience, Patriots coach Bill Belichick said Tuesday he thinks the secondary has "probably more [versatility] than what we've had in the past."". . more guys that are able...

Kyle Arrington Continues to ‘Expand His Value’ to Patriots Each Year, Bill Belichick Says

FOXBORO, Mass. — With the way Bill Belichick spoke about Kyle Arrington on Tuesday, it’s no wonder the Patriots gave the cornerback a four-year, $16 million contract. That contract came as a surprise to some, especially since Aqib Talib only got one year and $5 million from the team. But it shouldn’t have been a shock. Arrington is a valuable player to the Patriots who...

Danny Amendola has undisclosed injury

New England Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola missed practice both Monday and Tuesday with an undisclosed injury. Patriots coach Bill Belichick told reporters Tuesday that the receiver is “day to day.” Amendola and six other players missed

Bill Belichick says Tim Tebow is getting better... Wait, what?

You read right. Speaking to the media today Bill said he thinks Timmy T is "definitely" improving. Um, are you drunk Bill? I would say his performance in the game Friday vs. the Bucs was a major regression from his game against the Eagles, which was also awful. I'm actually pretty sure that Tebow played about as bad as a quarterback can play. His passes weren'...

Bill Belichick is seeing improvement in Tim Tebow’s game play

New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick believes Tim Tebow is showing improvement as a quarterback, despite his awful preseason performance.

RGIII Refuses to use Reason, Decides to Continue being a Media *****

Robert Griffin III, the fantastic, flashy, second-year quarterback of the Washington Redskins, told the media yesterday that he will not be quiet about how he feels. Specifically, RGIII told the media that he would not "Bill Belichick it" with them, and he will continue to be who he is. This was in response to whether or not he will change his ways after he was criticized...

Preseason Week 3 Preview: New England Patriots vs. Detroit Lions

The last time New England started the preseason 3-0 was in 2003, when they went a perfect 4-0 in exhibition play, they also went on to win a Super Bowl that year. The team looks to duplicate these feats, particularly that last one, starting with a showdown against the Lions in the Motor City. New England is 2-5 all time against Detroit in the preseason, including a 34-10 drubbing...

Follow Up: Grading New England Patriots' TE Contingency Plan

In my article of June 20th (archived here), I attempted to lay to rest the plethora of concerns for the New England Patriots and the disruption of their vaunted passing attack. Specifically, I outlined how they will deal with the gigantic holes left in the wake of the Aaron Hernandez arrest and Rob Gronkowski's surgeries and recovery uncertainty.Stories were flying fast and furious...

Shane Vereen, Patriots’ Running Backs Receive High Marks in Patriots Post-Training Camp Grades

FOXBORO, Mass. – Bill Belichick might have said “training camp is not over” in his press conference after Friday night’s game, but it has certainly ended for fans and media members. We won’t be gleaning muchat practice from here on out, but that just means we’ll be watching the games a little bit closer during the last few weeks of the preseason. No unit has been glaringly...

Pats' contrasting RBs make comparing tough

BY DAN BEGNOCHEIt's no secret the New England Patriots are planning to use their plethora of talent at running back any way they can to score points, whether it be on the ground, in the air or on special teams. But with a group of playmakers so specialized in one area or another, the real question may be who stays and who goes once the roster begins to thin."I think it'...
