Bengals running back Giovani Bernard is an exciting player to watch.  Back in preseason, I called him “Barry Sanders” like.  I am not saying Bernard is Sanders (trust me I have seen Sanders play many a times from my old 50-yard line seats and he is not Sanders).  However, he will never get that chance to try to be Sanders if he does not become the feature RB in the Bengals’ offense and as Josh Alper of NBCSports reports, Bernard is not going to get that chance anytime soon. The current feature RB for the Bengals is straight up and straight ahead sure handed BenJarvus Green-Ellis.  Green-Ellis is a no nonsense north-south RB and there is no change coming to the RB depth chart anytime in the future says offensive coordinator Jay Gruden: So to say we’re going to give the ball to Gio 25 times each week is kind of unrealistic. He needs spelling. He needs a bigger back in there like BenJarvus to take 10, 12, 15 carries and a game … it keeps him fresh, too.  Some of these guys, it’s impor...

Giovani Bernard Limited in Friday's Practice

Bengals running back Giovani Bernard was limited in Friday's practice though he is expected to play Sunday.Fantasy Spin:The coaching staff has made the decision that Bernard will continue in his role as change of pace and part-time back with BenJarvus Green-Ellis to take a lot of the hard inside yards. They hope it will keep Bernard fresh, but it also limits his fantasy value.

Gruden trusts rookie Bernard's instincts

The Giovani Bernard reverse-field touchdown run in Miami served as the latest – most glaring – example of the damage the rookie running back can do in space. His run swinging deep into the Bengals backfield was the first time he made such a dramatic, risky play bringing negative yards into the equation. With any rookie being new to a team, the tendency to stick with the game...

As fans and the Cincinnati Bengals watched Pro Bowl defensive tackle Geno Atkins stay on the ground minutes before halftime in the Thursday night loss to the Miami Dolphins, I doubt there was a single person who said, “We’ll be fine.” But that’s the sentiment that the Bengals and head coach Marvin Lewis are believing as they found out that Atkins would be out the entire...

Bengals receivers try to get a grip

So here’s the thing about yards after catch: You’d better concentrate on that catch part. Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens: Three Bold Predictions

I have joked about this before during the season, but if someone had told me in August that the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cleveland Browns would be at the top of the AFC North and the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers would be clawing to get about the line of mediocrity, I would have laughed loudly.I think I actually did at some point. The Bengals may be atop the division...
