Hoping to motivate himself to play better, Eagles corner back Brandon Boykin keeps a list of those corners drafted before him above his bed (Credit: sportige.com) When it comes to Philadelphia Eagles corner back Brandon Boykin, forgot the Sophomore slump myth. After having zero interceptions and only seven pass defenses in his rookie year, Boykin took off in his sophomore year. In his second season with the Eagles, the former Georgia Bulldog, was second in the NFL in interceptions with six and tenth in the league with seventeen pass defenses. So, what motivates Brandon Boykin? Those corner backs drafted before him. According to Boykin, he keeps the name of all eleven corner backs drafted before him above his bed as motivation. “It’s over my bed,” he said. “That’s motivation for me. It legitimately motivates me. That’ll never go away.” Which players were drafted before Boykin who was taken with the 123rd overall pick? Boykin’s list includes  Morris Claiborne, Stephon Gilmore, Dre Kirkpatrick, Janoris Jenkins, Trumaine Johnson, Josh Robinson, Jamell Fleming, Bill Bentley, Jayron Hosley, Omar Bolden, and Coty Sensabaugh. Boykin admitted that the list over his bed will never go away or not at least until all eleven of the corners picked before him are out of the league. “Every year,” he said. “’Til all of them are out of the league.  Every single one of them. That doesn’t go away.” Boykin had four interceptions in the Eagles last seven games. During that same period, no one in the NFL had more interceptions than Boykin. However Boykin wants to motivate himself, if he continues to perform at this level, no one in Philadelphia will care.
