Seattle Seahawks cornerback Brandon Browner has thrived in Seattle’s physical style of defense. After a stint in the CFL, nine NFL interceptions, and a Pro Bowl, apparently the Seahawks now feel he is in need of a pay raise. But with no extension. Hm.

I really struggle to understand this one. Just to clarify, Browner is going into the final year of his current contract, and was scheduled to make $555,000 this year. It is unclear thus far how much the raise will augment this number, but from the team’s standpoint this does nothing except for hinder their ability to sign other players by taking away from their $3.646 in cap space.
Maybe the Seahawks are trying to sweeten up Brandon Browner so he’ll give them something along the lines of a hometown discount after his contract is up next year. Who knows.
