( image, courtesy of Jamie Sabau/Getty Images) ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Cleveland Browns Running Back Trent Richardson has been traded to the Indianapolis Colts for their 2014 first round draft pick. This move gives the up and coming Colts , the 1st ( Andrew Luck) and 3rd ( Richardson) picks from the 2012 draft and the Rebuilding mode Browns 2 first round picks in the 2014 draft. I’m trying to wrap my head around both the NFL and Fantasy implications of this deal. Could be a risky move by ex Eagles GM Joe Banner as Trent was poised to be a stud running back in the NFL. No guarantee that they will be able to get anyone as good in next years draft. On the other hand, the  Browns were struggling even with the 3rd overall back, so the 2 picks in 2014 could really help. As mentioned above, Indy bolsters an already strong , young squad and looks to improve on an impressive season that ended with a playoff appearance last year. As far as Fantasy Implications… Richardson owners may want to sit him this week, as he will need some time to learn Indy’s play book , however as the season progresses, the move will have little effect on a guy who was already a first tier Running Back. The people who should worry, are the Ahmad Bradshaw owners, who were ready to take advantage of the season ending injury to Vic Ballard. As mentioned before, it should be business as usual in Week 3 as Richardson learns the ropes but look for Bradshaw’s role to diminish as the season progresses. This doesn’t mean drop Bradshaw. Instead, look for the Bradshaw/ Richardson tandem to do similar damage as the Bradshaw/ Jacobs duo did in NY. Richardson will still be a #1 back but Bradshaw drops to a flex option. Finally, for those asking who will be running the ball for Cleveland, reports are that the Browns are giving free agent, Willis McGahee a look, so keep your waiver finger poised and ready. Trent Richardson Reaction: What to make of the blockbuster deal

Last night, when I heard about the trade via the same medium as Trent Richardson himself I was shocked, like all of you. Those who read my piece on how Richardson would shine in Norv Turner’s system know I loved his set up in Cleveland. Instead, he’s in Indy where they are working on collecting the entire set of top 5 picks from the 2012 draft. They only have two, of course,...

Indianapolis Colts: Trent Richardson trade and preview of week 3 matchup

It’s already been an exciting week 3. The Indianapolis Colts traded their 2014 first-round pick to the Cleveland Browns for running back Trent Richardson. Browns trade Trent Richardson to Colts for 1st Round Pick

What else should we expect from the Cleveland Browns?  We all knew that they weren’t going to be good this year with the 40 year old sophomore quarterback, but if they could have finished out the season with a bad record and drafted a good quarterback, they would have been contenders in the AFC North in a couple years.  But the Browns front office had vastly different things...

Giving up on 2013, Cleveland Browns trade RB Trent Richardson to Colts

The 0-2 Cleveland Browns have made a statement that they don’t plan on competing during the 2013 season. The team, which has a new front office and coaching staff, waited just two weeks into the regular season to shake things up. Shake things up they did. The Browns traded second year running back Trent Richardson to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for the Colts 2014 first round...

Inside the art of the Browns' deal

Like most people, I was shocked to hear the Browns had traded Trent Richardson, the third overall pick of the 2012 draft, to the Indianapolis Colts. I didn't think much could surprise me in this league anymore, but you just don't see trades like this happen these days. Especially with such a marquee, so-called franchise player like this, only two games into his second season...

Cleveland fans to hold “Browns Unappreciation Day” after Trent Richardson trade

Tweet Wednesday evening, the Cleveland Browns shocked the sports world by trading 2012 NFL draft third overall pick Trent Richardson to the Indianapolis Colts for a 2014 first round draft pick. Despite some early season struggles, Richardson was widely regarded as arguably the team’s best offensive player. The trade got the Browns fan base so […]

It'll be years before we can determine who won the Trent Richardson trade

In one of the most shocking in-season trades in NFL history, sophomore running back Trent Richardson has been dealt from the Cleveland Browns to the Indianapolis Colts. Only 16 months ago, Richardson entered the league as the most highly-touted rookie back since Adrian Peterson, but there's a new regime in Cleveland now -- one that has zero ties to that Richardson selection...

What if the Tribe made the Richardson trade?

This trade the Cleveland Browns made shipping Trent Richardson off to the Indianapolis Colts for a 2014 first round pick doesn't bother me because I'm just more of a Tribe fan and a baseball guy more than I follow football. On the surface, it looks like a solid trade for both teams, because of their current status regarding being close to winning.  Then, I wondered how I...

Brandon Weeden will not require surgery for thumb

Brandon Weeden has a sprained right thumb but the Cleveland Browns quarterback will not require surgery. The Browns will start third string quarterback Brian Hoyer in Week 3 against the Minnesota Vikings. Hoyer will become the 19th different quarterback to start for the Browns since re-entering the NFL in 1999. Weeden injured his thumb late in the Browns loss to Baltimore last Sunday...
