Cleveland Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer left the team’s Thursday Night Football game against the Buffalo Bills with a right knee injury. Now reports suggest the Browns fear their newly-anointed signal-caller has torn ligaments in the knee. The Browns won the game 37-24 but may have lost their quarterback for the rest of the season. Hoyer was forced from the game during Cleveland’s second series after attempting to slide at the end of an 11-yard scramble. The 27-year-old Michigan State product had led the Browns to back-to-back wins and it appeared the team had finally found stability at the quarterback position with him. Brandon Weeden replaced Hoyer and was average at best. Weeden completed 13-of-24 passes for 197 yards, with one touchdown and no interceptions. Sadly for Weeden, he was booed upon entering the game. Hoyer entered Thursday night’s game having played in two games on the season. He had completed 55-of-92 passes (59.8 percent) for 590 yards, with five touchdowns and three interceptions. But wins are what matter, and the Browns were 2-0 with Hoyer as the team’s starter. Before leaving the game Thursday night, Hoyer was 2-of-4 for 25 yards, but one of his incompletions came when wide receiver Josh Gordon dropped what should have been an 80-yard touchdown pass. Hoyer will have an MRI on Friday to determine the extent of the damage to his knee. The Browns can ill-afford to lose Hoyer, especially considering how awful Weeden has been this season. Entering Thursday night, the 29-year-old Weeden had completed 47-of-86 passes (54.7 percent), for 516 yards, with one touchdown and three interceptions. His quarterback rating on the young season is an atrocious 62.0. The post Brian Hoyer: Cleveland Browns fear quarterback has torn ligaments in right knee appeared first on Midwest Sports Fans.
