KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- It was not one of those performances that will be given a corner in the Pro Football Hall of Fame for documentation. On Sunday, the Denver Broncos couldn't care less, as they carved out a gritty 17-9 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. The winning effort was the sixth straight victory for the Broncos, who are 8-3 and maintain at least a three-game lead in the AFC West with five games to play. The Chiefs have lost eight in a row and are 1-10. The Broncos were a scoring machine in the first five games of their winning streak, putting 30 or more points on the scoreboard in every victory. But the struggling Chiefs found some passion and performance and they were able to keep this game in doubt until the final moments. Denver's defense was able to keep the K.C. offense out of the end zone, although running back Jamaal Charles ran for 107 yards.
