PLAYERS: Ryan CladyJohn Elway
TEAMS: Denver Broncos
The Denver Post believes the Broncos will end up placing the franchise tag on offensive tackle Ryan Clady this offseason in order to see how he recovers from shoulder surgery. Broncos executive vice president of football operations John Elway has said re-signing Clady is a priority and said following the season he expected to get something done. However, Clady’s recent shoulder surgery likely increases the chances the Broncos take a little more wait-and-see approach on a long-term deal for the three-time Pro Bowl selection. He has now had major knee surgery — in early 2010 — to go with shoulder surgery, an injury that bothered him for much of the season and kept him out of the Pro Bowl. As a result, the Broncos are far more likely to use the franchise tag on Clady, which would be a guaranteed one-year deal for $9.66 million. That keeps Clady on the roster. From a business sense, it allows the Broncos to look at his recovery without diving in on a long-term deal before he is medically cleared to return to workouts. I think the Broncos would love to give Clady a lucrative long-term contract, but they have to first make sure his long term health isn’t in jeopardy.       Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; script.src = ''+_CI.counter; script.async = true; ref.parentNode.insertBefore(script, ref); })();

Broncos Likely to Franchise OT Ryan Clady?

Jeff Legwold of the Denver Post writes that the Broncos could take a “wait-and-see approach” regarding impending free agent OT Ryan Clady. Clady, 26, recently underwent surgery on his shoulder and is reportedly seeking a deal that would average over $10 million annually and possibly even more than $38 million in guarantees. Previous reports indicated that Clady turned...

The combine, free agency, and the draft are all a few weeks away.  So, what else do we have to talk about besides 2013 expectations? “Of course Denver (will be the team to beat in the AFC,”’s Steve Wyche wrote on Friday.  ”Its division is there for the taking as long as Peyton Manning is there.  And frankly, the Broncos were one blown coverage away from facing...

Should the Broncos go after Ed Reed in 2013?

(Getty Images) Heading into the 2013 NFL offseason, the Denver Broncos could use some leadership at the safety position.  Could Baltimore’s Ed Reed fill in the gap? The Broncos have a veteran in Mike Adams, but Adams is not the type of play-maker that Reed has been throughout his career.  At least one Broncos insider, CBS4′s Vic Lombardi, could see the Broncos pursuing Reed...

Broncos Rumors: Champ Bailey will return

The Denver Broncos had one of their best seasons in recent memory last year.  Unfortunately, they didn't win a game in the playoffs, so their regular season success didn't mean much.  They will try to carry their regular season success through the postseason next year, and Champ Bailey should be there to help them do it. According to Mike Kilis of the Denver Post, Bailey...
