Found September 24, 2013 on This Given Sunday:
Peyton Manning may not be the best quarterback of all time, and the Denver Broncos may not be the best team of all time, but one thing is certain. Both are extremely talented, and Manning is on a mad tear through the NFL. Usually, stats can be spun one way or another. Not so with Manning’s 2013 campaign to this point. Denver’s start quarterback and future Hall of Famer is averaging 4 touchdown passes per game, 381 yards passing per game, and oh by the way, he hasn’t thrown an interception yet. The result is easy to predict. The Broncos are tied with the Chiefs at 3-0 atop the AFC West, and frankly, there doesn’t appear to be anyone in the AFC even remotely close to the Broncos. The NFC has teams that should be able to challenge the Broncos, should they make it to the Super Bowl. The Seahawks have the ability to score on both offense and defense, and the Saints are firing on all cylinders now that Sean Payton is back. Even with stellar competition, the Broncos are currently i...

Rare and interesting Manning family photos

Tonight ESPN adds another documentary to their critically acclaimed library with the airing of “The Book of Manning.” Of course the film has tons of footage of contemporary quarterback star brothers Peyton and Eli, but thanks to the urging of Manning matriarch Olivia, father Archie and oldest brother Cooper are also featured. The documentary delves into Archie’s transition...

Peyton Manning: ‘Nice of the NFL to Give Philly 12 Days Off and Us 6′

The undefeated Denver Broncos will take on the Eagles this Sunday, in a battle of teams going in different directions.  The Broncos played on Monday night, while the Eagles last played on Thursday, September 19th.  Peyton Manning noticed the difference in off days, according to CSN. “We’re coming off of a short week — it’s nice of the NFL to give Philly 12 days and give...

Peyton Manning Complains That Eagles Have Extra Time to Prepare for Teams’ Matchup This Weekend

The Denver Broncos aren’t expected to need any excuses when they play a struggling Eagles team this Sunday, but Peyton Manning went ahead and made a few anyway. “We’re coming off of a short week — it’s nice of the NFL to give Philly [10] days [off] and give us six,” the Broncos quarterback told reporters Tuesday, according to CSNPhilly.com. “So we’ve got to handle...

Maybe we're just now seeing Manning in his prime

Peyton Manning is only getting better with age. Those surgical scars on his neck are starting to fade like all those fears that he might never be the same quarterback - or even play again - after his right arm shrank from a damaged nerve in his biceps two years ago. After attacking his rehab as doggedly as he assails defenses, Denver's 37-year-old quarterback is making it hard...

Eagles-Broncos Preview

The best start of Peyton Manning's career has the Denver Broncos on the verge of team history. The Broncos will be trying for a franchise-record 15th consecutive regular-season win Sunday when the Philadelphia Eagles come to town. It would tie them for the ninth-longest streak all-time, still a ways back from the league-record of 23 that Manning helped Indianapolis set from...

Fantasy Football 2013 Quarterback Rankings: Week 4

To the surprise of no one, Peyton Manning maintains his spot atop Athlon Sports' fantasy football Week 4 quarterback rankings. Not only has...

Broncos RB's played rock, paper, scissors for goal line carry

The Denver Broncos running back trio used a game of rock-paper-scissors to decide who got to score against the Raiders (Credit: USA Today) Last night’s Monday Night Football game was nothing short of an embarrassment for the Oakland Raiders. Not only did they lose 37-21, but Peyton Manning and the Broncos offense drove down the field at ease in the first half. Manning ended the...

Fantasy Football: Game of the Week Preview

If hockey is considered the fastest game on Earth and lacrosse is the fastest game on two feet, this Sunday's matchup between Eagles and Broncos will be the fastest game on Earth, on two feet without sticks. Chip Kelly's up-tempo offense was truly revealed to the league when his Eagles snapped off 77 plays against Washington in Week 1. However, it has been also determined...

Monday Night Football Preview: Raiders vs. Broncos

Tonight on Monday Night Football, the Oakland Raiders will try and slay the giants of Mile High Stadium. Peyton Manning is in vintage form and his connection with Wes Welker seems telekinetic. Terrelle Pryor has been lighting up teams with his legs and sometimes with his arms, a Broncos’ D sans Von Miller means Darren [...]

2013 Season Week 4 Picks

The Eagles are traveling to Denver to face the Broncos this week. They have, quite literally, NO chance. To quote Jimmy Kempski: The Eagles got shredded Week 2 by a QB (Philip Rivers) who got his team up to the line quickly, identified the defense, then checked to a more favorable call. Peyton Manning is the master at that. To which I say: Yes. Yes, he is. My prediction? This is...

What to Watch for in Week 4 of the NFL

This week is the start of bye weeks in the NFL, so we’ll be without the presence of Aaron Rodgers and Cam Newton this week.  Despite one of the best QB’s being sidelined this week, there are still plenty of games to keep our attention. There are two games that jump off the schedule at first glance.  Philadelphia and Denver is definite must-see-TV.  The Eagles fast paced offense...

Raiders-Broncos MNF Live Blog, First Half

You know, sometimes there are terrible primetime games that the schedule makers couldn’t have never seen coming. Bears-Steelers on Sunday night, for example. There’s little chance the NFL could have known that the Steelers would turn out to be as big a dumpster fire as they are this season. But there’s no way the Raiders traveling to Denver for a Monday night game ever sounded...

Three weeks of chaos down; what will happen in the next three?

The NFL landscape is never predictable. That’s why it’s so surprising to see so many up in arms about the absolutely tumultuous start to the NFL seasons. The Giants and Steelers are stuck at 0-3 while teams like the Dolphins and the Chiefs are suddenly contenders at 3-0. With so many teams surprising us in both good and bad ways, is there anything we can be sure of heading forward...
