The Browns are turning to their practice squad to add some depth to their edge rushing group that suffered a couple injuries Sunday against the Jaguars.

Sam Kamara, who has been on the practice squad since the beginning of the season, is being called up to the active roster, according to ESPN’s Jake Trotter.

Kamara has been in the NFL since 2021 and has been with the Browns primarily as a practice squad player since October 2022. He started his career in 2021 with the Bears and tallied 10 tackles in eight games, and he hasn’t seen any action since he played in one game with the Browns last season. He debuted for Cleveland in Week 18 against Pittsburgh and played in seven snaps but didn’t record a tackle, and he's been on the Browns practice squad since August.

The Browns could be working through injuries at defensive end after their 31-27 win over the Jaguars in Week 14. Ogbo Okoronkwo and Za’Darius Smith each left the game at different points with injuries, but both of them were able to finish the game — and each of them also tallied a sack against Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence. It’s not yet known whether either player is at risk of missing Week 15 against the Bears.

Defensive tackle Jordan Elliott also exited the game early and was ruled out with a concussion.

Kamara’s addition gives the Browns six defensive ends on the active roster — he joins Myles Garrett, Smith, Okoronkwo, Alex Wright and Isaiah McGuire.
