Cleveland Browns receiver Travis Benjamin credits chasing rabbits when he was growing up with giving him his speed (Credit: Baltimore Sun) A lot of fast NFL players credit their speed to something such as playing track and field throughout their life. Cleveland Browns wide receiver Travis Benjamin credits something very different for his speed. Drafted in the fourth round last year out of the University of Miami, Benjamin ran a 4.31 40 during the NFL Combine. While talking to the Cleveland Browns website, Benjamin credits chasing rabbits for his speed. “When you burn the cane, the rabbits are going to scatter out,” Benjamin tells the team’s official website.  “When you see the rabbits scatter out, you go chase them.  I saw a guy catch at least 60 or 70 in a day, and he was out there by himself.  It was some local guy, and for fun, he’d just go out there and catch them all. “When I was growing up, it used to be a thing.  We have a tradition that we’d go out there and catch rabbits.  I caught 20 in one day before.  There’s nothing to it once you know the tendencies, what the rabbit’s going to do, when they’re going to come out.  It’s a great feeling.  It’s just about going out there and having fun with it.” Benjamin’s past is staying with him and the story of him chasing rabbits has made its rounds in the locker room. In fact, according to head coach Rob Chudzinski, Benjamin’s teammates even call him “rabbit”. “I had been fortunate to be around some guys that were really fast,” coach Rob Chudzinski said.  “I know Travis’ nickname is ‘The Rabbit,’ so you don’t need to say much more in terms of where he would rank with those guys.  But when you grow up chasing rabbits, you’re going to be pretty fast, and he is.” However Benjamin got his speed, I am sure Browns fans are happy he is on their team. Last week he had a Browns franchise single-game record with 179 return yards and helped to beat the Buffalo Bills. Maybe with Benjamin’s success, more and more boys of Florida are going to start chasing rabbits. Available on the cheap Willis McGahee could score well against the Lions

Willis McGahee, Cleveland Browns – $6,230: It wasn’t exactly pretty against the Bills last week, but McGahee is the bell cow back in Cleveland. Jason Campbell hurt that Browns bypassed him at QB

After insisting all offseason that Jason Campbell was competing for the starting quarterback job coach Rob Chudzinski bypassed the veteran to roll with third-stringer Brian Hoyer when Brandon Weeden was sidelined by a sprained thumb. Brandon Weeden’s Terrible Interception (GIF)

The Browns were up 17-7 at halftime, but did not manage to score after that losing 31-17; this certainly didn’t help Brandon Weeden and the Browns’ cause. Granted Lions linebacker, DeAndre Levy made a fantastic play on the ball, this was one of the more poorly executed plays of the 2013 season.
