Buccaneers draft LB Joe Tryon with No. 32 pick
Jennifer Buchanan-USA TODAY Sports

Returning all starters from their Super Bowl team a season ago, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers really didn’t have any needs to conclude the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft Thursday evening in Cleveland.

There was some talk that Tampa Bay might target the edge pass rusher position with Jason Pierre-Paul getting up there in age. That’s exactly what general manager Jason Licht did in adding stud former Washington pass rusher Joe Tryon with the 32nd pick.

The 6-foot-5, 259-pound Tryon was an absolute stud for the Huskies back in 2019 before opting out of the 2020 campaign due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That season saw him record 12.5 tackles for loss and eight sacks.

His speed off the edge should make for an immediate impact for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers opposite Shaq Barrett moving forward.
