And so it begins, again. After a report comes out reiterating a soft deadline on the potential trade between the Bucs and the Jets for Darrelle Revis, another is published where it speaks of a possible offer with more intrigue. Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports writes that the Bucs are losing their patience with New York. …the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, long regarded as the team most likely to trade for Revis, are apparently growing impatient with the process, three sources said. The Buccaneers are not only willing to trade a combination of a first-, third- and sixth-round picks for Revis, they are also willing to pay the corner in the area of $15-16 million per year on a long-term contract. The above mentioned salary the Bucs are reportedly willing to offer Revis has been thrown out there before. What is unclear is the compensation to New York, whether those draft picks are this year’s picks, next year’s, or a combination of both drafts. Cole also mentions in his article that Revis’ agents have asked the Jets for permission to be excused from this offseason’s workouts due to the awkwardness that may come with it. If true, that may force New York’s hand to trade the All-Pro corner. The compensation that is now being reported no longer seems far-fetched. Even if it is referring to this year’s draft. A Revis that is only 85% healthy is better than any draft pick you select at the end of this month. Even if the Bucs do part with their first round pick, the Bucs can package-let’s say-their second round pick and a player (if needed) to a team and get back in the first round. Or their second round pick and one of their fourth round picks. Whatever it can possible be, nothing is out of the question at this point.
