A New England Patriots cross-ocean win and a Miami Dolphins blowout of the New York Jets result in the Buffalo Bills leaving their bye week in third place in the AFC East. The Patriots got 127 rushing yards from Stevan Ridley and four Tom brady touchdown passes to crush the St. Louis Rams 45-7 Sunday in London. Rob Gronkowski came out of hibernation for the Pats, catching eight passes for 146 yards and two touchdowns. St. Louis actually took the 7-0 lead early before surrendering 45 straight points. The pats led 28-7 at halftime and – in typical Bill Belichick fashion – kept pouring it on well into the fourth quarter. The Rams were limited to 326 yards. In New Jersey, the Dolphins pulled off a statistical anomaly in crushing the Jets, 30-9. The Jets outgained the Dolphins 363-236, but the Dolphins got all the points they needed on a first-quarter blocked punt that was returned for a touchdown. Tim Tebow was in as a decoy but missed a block that allowed Miami to get to the punter. Miami's two touchdown drives – capped off by a Daniel Thomas run and Anthony Fasano catch from Matt Moore - combined for only 77 yards. Moore finished 11-for-19 for 131 yards and the touchdown in relief of Ryan Tannenhill, who got hurt in the first quarter. The jets' embattled Mark Sanchez finished 28-of-54 for 283 yards with a touchdown and interception. The Patriots now lead the division at 5-3. Miami is right behind at 4-3. The Bills leave the bye at 3-4, while the Jets fall to 3-5. The Bills might not have a lot of reasons to think they'll improve their record next week against the Houston Texans. But Buffalo does possess one of the best post-bye records in the NFL at 15-8. They've won five of their last seven games coming off a bye. Check out other great articles at Sports Media 101. var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
