Tom Brady’s temper has probably cooled off now that the realization of Wes Welker being gone has set in. His former go-to slot man is off to greener (and much higher) pastures in Bronco Country. Who’s next? Enter Danny Amendola, stage right. He’s not the household name Patriot fans are used to in the Northeast, so can he really be Brady’s next Wes Welker? His short NFL career may suggest so. A quick comparison of the two receivers from their Texas Tech days is rather haunting. Although they graduated five years apart from one another (Welker in 2003 and Amendola in 2008) both had their fair share of offensive playmaking in Lubbock. Welker left campus with 259 receptions, 3019 yards, and 21 touchdowns compared to Amendola’s 204 receptions, 2,246 receiving yards, and 15 touchdowns. Both were also standouts on special teams. Welker was awarded the Mosi Tatupu Award (given annually to the best special teams player in college football) in 2003.  Similarly, Amendola finished third all tim...

Danny Amendola's Dad Suing Cowboys Stadium

His son is getting paid this year (and the next four; $28.5 million) so why shouldn't he, right? A couple years after being a part of a rather odd accident at Cowboys Stadium, Willie Amendola, New England Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola's Dad, is suing the Cowboys for an amount somewhere north of $1 million. Willie Amendola was the head coach of the Dekaney...

Having already developed ‘timing’ with the disrespected New Englander, Peyton Manning had better not fail alongside Wes Welker

Practicing at Duke University throughout the week, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning claims to have already developed solid chemistry with disrespected New Englander Wes Welker. The 31-year-old Welker, a four-time All-Pro who has led the NFL in catches on three occasions, signed a two-year contract worth $12 million with Denver on March 13. “There’s certain guys you just...

Tom Brady...Yankees fan?

Over the weekend, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was seen on camera at Yankee Stadium watching the Yankees and Orioles. So the question becomes - who was he rooting for? As the ball leaves the bat of Nick Markakis, is Brady yelling "OH NO!" in support of his brother-in-law Kevin Youkilis who of course now plays for the Yankees,  or "GO GO!"...

The best seventh round draft picks in NFL history

It was not until 1994 that the NFL Draft was shortened to seven rounds as we see it today. Usually by that time the fans on TV and in the crowd have fallen asleep or gone home. But what makes scouting departments of NFL teams great is not hitting on the first two rounds of the Draft, but rather building a roster in the later rounds. It is widely noted the players who have slipped in...
