According to Mike Jurecki of Xtra 910 in Phoenix, the Arizona Cardinals aren’t interested in signing wide receiver Hines Ward once he’s officially released from the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Cardinals are the first team we would think would be interested in Ward, since Ken Wisenhunt was the Steelers offensive coordinator from 2004-2006. I can’t be mad at the Cardinals for not being interested in Ward.  I really don’t think he has anything left as a football player.

2012 Steelers Mock Draft Version 2.0 – Post NFL Combine

The 2012 NFL combine is now in the books and I have gone back to do some additional tape study and reading in preparation for this, my second Pittsburgh Steelers mock draft of the offseason. Mock draft 1.0, which was done right after the Senior Bowl, can be read by following the link. I usually end up doing about 5 or 6 mocks leading up to the draft, so there are quite a few more...

The case for keeping the Big Snack in Pittsburgh

With so many restructures already in the books for the Steelers, along with all the recent cuts, there’s a solid case for keeping NT Casey Hampton on the team in 2012.  “He’s recovering from ACL surgery” you say? Yes indeed he is, but even given that situation, Hampton could still contribute to the team in 2012. One of Hampton’s best friends and long time teammate Chris...

Zero Tolerance for “Zero Tolerance” Policies

Mike Leach the pirate... Screw up once and walk the plank. On Saturday our own Victory Bell weighed in on the Sekope Kaufusi dismissal asking the question that very few people even seem willing to consider; Is Mike Leach’s zero tolerance policy a good policy? My answer to that is an unequivocal “no”. In fact I think it is completely senseless and totally at odds with his role...

How the 2001 draft led to Casey Hampton

By Christina Rivers It was 2001.  The Pittsburgh Steelers had drafted two wide receivers in the first round the previous two years (Troy Edwards and Plaxico Burress).  The Steelers were targeting defensive linemen, and for the first time since 1990, they ended up doing something they very seldom ever do; trading down.  The result was that the man they wanted - Marcus Stroud out...

The Cleveland Browns should acquire WR Mike Wallace

The Pittsburgh Steelers did not place the franchise tag on WR Mike Wallace yesterday at the league imposed deadline, instead using a first-round tender. With two first-round draft picks in next month’s draft, the Cleveland Browns should consider using the number 22 pick and acquire WR Mike Wallace. At this time of the year, lying by front offices of NFL franchises...
