Oakland Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer said on Wednesday that he’s “happy” to return to the Raiders and that they’re close to becoming a “championship” team. Some people believe the Raiders are in a slight rebuilding mode this coming season, but Palmer doesn’t see it that way. “As far as being close to a playoff team, it’s more than that,” Palmer said per the Contra Costa Times. “We’re close to a championship team. There’s a lot of work that needs to be put in and a lot of hurdles that we need to get over, but we need to be heading into this season thinking more than just playoffs.” I think it’s great how confident Palmer is in his teammates, but let’s be honest, the Raiders haven’t made the playoffs in ten years and they couldn’t even make it this past season, when team’s like the Broncos and Chargers tried to hand it to them. I’d give the Raiders at least a couple more season’s before they’re a playoff contender.
