Chargers’ Defensive Star Has Hilarious Comparison For Jim Harbaugh

The Los Angeles Chargers hired Jim Harbaugh as their head coach earlier this offseason, and he is already making a fantastic impression on his new players.

Take linebacker Denzel Perryman, for example.

When discussing Harbaugh recently, Perryman had a hilarious comparison for him: actor Will Ferrell.

“My first impressions of Harbaugh — I hope I don’t get in trouble for this, but he reminds me of Will Ferrell,” Perryman said, via Kevin Patra of NFL.com. “I don’t know if it’s the way that he speaks, his analogies and everything, but they really remind me of Will Ferrell. It’s just funny to me. It’s funny, but I know he means well and that everything comes from the heart. I feel like you have to have a sense of humor to understand his lines and gimmicks.”

Perryman ensured that he meant all of this is a compliment.

“I love him. I love him,” Perryman said. “As a coach, like I said, I love the direction he has us going in. He played the game. He played here. He understands.”

The Chargers signed Perryman in free agency, so Harbaugh obviously played a role in bringing the former Pro Bowler back to Los Angeles.

Perryman spent the first six years of his career with the Chargers after being selected by the club in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

He then made his way to the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021, when he made his first Pro Bowl after racking up 154 tackles and a couple of fumble recoveries.

The 31-year-old spent two seasons with the Raiders and then linked up with the Houston Texans for one year in 2023 before rejoining the Chargers.

Harbaugh is not yet aware that Perryman basically thinks he is Ferrell.

“[I haven’t told him that] yet. Not yet,” a joking Ferrell said. “I’m pretty sure he’ll hear this and talk to me about it tomorrow.”

I’m sure Harbaugh will have an even funnier reaction once Perryman informs him.

Harbaugh is back in the NFL ranks after spending the last nine years at the University of Michigan. He led the Wolverines to a national championship this past season.

He coached the San Francisco 49ers from 2011 through 2014, guiding the club to two NFC West division titles, three playoff appearances and, most importantly, a trip to the Super Bowl.
