Tuesday night Cheddar Bay action is one thing, but MACtion is something we take whenever we can get it. And tonight it’s the class of the Mid-American Conference, Northern Illinois at Toledo at 7EST on ESPN2 (as much as there’s no excuse not to be there live).
With the #1 LSU v. #2 Alabama tilt set for this Saturday night, it’s only right that the college football week would get off to such a banging start. Unless somebody has any better ideas, the pick for tonight will be Toledo -8.5 over Northern Illinois (5 units) on the theory that it really doesn’t matter whether DeKalb is properly considered property of the godforsaken swamp or the godforsaken plains.* The Rockets had Boise State in their house this season and played the Buckeyes to one score in the Shoe. Which might seem too obvious, but this is a major referendum, it’s Tuesday, and the early bird gets the worm.
