For the last eleven seasons the Indianapolis Colts have been one of the best teams in the NFL. Much of their success was the result of the stellar play by their Offense.
The team celebrated their 9th straight season with double digit wins in 2010, so 2011 looked to be a very promising and memorable season. Unfortunately Colts fans like myself were in awe as we watched our beloved team fall to a 2-14 record, which was the worst record in the NFL, but there is a bright light at the end of the dark tunnel for the Colts and all of us loyal fans.
That bright light comes in the form of the Number 1 pick in 2012 NFL Draft. There are so many great options coming from the College ranks, there are endless possibilities as to how the Colts can improve the team.
Some of this year’s Draft prospects include two outstanding Quarterbacks. One looks like the prototypical passer. He’s got the size, smarts, and arm strength. Nearly every NFL experts pins this passer as one of the all time “greats” coming out of College. The other QB prospect is a blazing fast athlete with the agility of a Running Back, speed of a World Class Sprinter, and a cannon for an arm. I would gladly see either of these players come to the Colts. In fact the last time the Colts had the Number 1 pick was in 1999 and that draft selection worked out great, considering they were one of the best teams during the last decade.
Though we aren’t competing in the Super Bowl this year, us Colts fans will get to experience some of the fun since the Super Bowl is being held in our backyard, our home turf, our stadium. Everyone in Indy is excited for the festivities to begin at Lucas Oil Stadium in a few weeks.
Those of us in Indy are pretty lucky since we don’t have to travel anywhere for the big game. But if you can’t make the game this year, check out the VISA XLVII SUPERBOWL SWEEPSTAKES for a chance to win tickets to Super Bowl XLVII. It’s a no brainer considering you’ll get a FREE trip to watch the Super Bowl with ten of your friends. Who doesn’t want a FREE TRIP? All you need to do is use your Visa card and you could win a trip to the Big Game in 2013. Since all of my friends are Colts fans, I wouldn’t know which ten guys I would pick to come on this trip. If you are in the same boat as me, I suggest checking out Visa’s YOU + TEN Draft app on Facebook. It analyzes your social graph to find the ten best people you interact with on Facebook. Not only is this a great tool for figuring out who to bring if you win, but it’s also real helpful for you to know who to invite to your next tailgate, playoff party, or Fantasy Football Draft.
I am still getting over the fact that I’ll have to deal with two otherteams playing in our stadium in just a few weeks. It will be so weird seeing a football game being played on our field without the Colts being one of the teams in action. But I am a Football Fan, so even with the Colts not participating, I’m excited for the Big Game. Actually, I’m almost anxious to see which two teams will be playing in Indy.
But again, I am most looking forward to that 1st pick of the upcoming 2012 NFL Draft. When the NFL’s commissioner steps up to the podium and announces:
“With the 1st pick of the 2012 NFL Draft, the Indianapolis Colts select_______”
I will be glued to my TV. Unless of course Visa decides to sponsor a trip to the NFL Draft in New York, I may be there to witness it in person
Watch out NFL, The Colts will be back in 2012.
