He's baccckkk! Well, no, it's not Michael Jordan; but to Detroit Lions fans it could be the savior to their season. Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford was back to his form of last season, leading the Detroit to a big win over the visiting Seattle Seahawks. At Ford Field in Detroit on Sunday, Stafford guided the Lions to a 28-24 victory over the Seattle Seahawks. The Lions improved their record to 3-4, and may have found the guy so desperately needed if Detroit is going to have any chance at making consecutive trips to the playoffs.Let's review the Hero of the Game, and the Zero of the Game. There was a lot of action in the game, big plays being made by both teams, a few players standing out for Hero and Zero of the game. Our Hero of the Game is for Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford. The gunslinger for Detroit completed 34/49 passes for 352 yards and three touchdowns. On top of this Top Gun aerial performance, Stafford also rushed for a one yard touchdown; thus accounting for all four Lions scores on the day.Stafford is the Captain of the Lions Ship, they will go as far as this strong-armed quarterback will take them. Last year, he had a prolific season, combing with Megatron and other Lions receivers to break records and blow through opponents on their way to a playoff berth. So far in the 2012 season, Matthew Stafford has been held a little under wraps by the opposing teams for whatever reason. It could be that teams have been making a concerted effort at double-teaming wide receiver Calvin Johnson, or just better pass defense in general. But on Sunday, the gloves came off; and Stafford came out swinging. If the Lions are to make a prolonged playoff push they will need Sunday's version of Matthew Stafford to be available every week. The Zero of the Game will be handed out to the Seattle defense, and though no one particular player stood out; it was a combination effort as a whole. The Seattle defense typically plays rugged, with a stingy defense that limits opponents drives, and gets off the field pretty quickly on third down.Sunday was a completely different story. The Seattle defense gave up 12 of 16 first downs when Detroit had a third down, including three on Detroit's last drive down the field for the winning touchdown.Seattle had a chance to put the game on ice with a stop here or there during the last drive; but they just couldn't get to Stafford and the Lions receivers were able to make plays down the field.A big win for the Lions, a tough loss for the Seahawks. Both teams came in to the game needing a win, and Detroit was able to make it happen.
