The Miami Dolphins have reached out to free agent quarterback Tyler Thigpen.
Thigpen, 29, has been out of work since the end of the 2012 season when he served as the backup in Buffalo. A few teams are known to have worked out Thigpen but none are known to have made an offer.
Third-string QB Pat Devlin suffered a hand injury in Sunday’s loss to Dallas. If signed Thigpen would be no higher then third on the depth chart behind Ryan Tanehill and Matt Moore.
Thigpen has appeared in 29 games including 12 starts (1-11) and has totaled 3,222 yards passing, 21 touchdowns and 18 interceptions. In 2009 and 2011 he spent time with the Dolphins.

Many experts and members of the media will tell you to disregard what goes on in the preseason, others will tell you that you need to pay attention to every player on each snap, that being said there is a fine line of things that should excite or concern fans when it comes to preseason football.
Things to be concerned about :
1) Jonathan Martin - Going into this season...
The Miami Dolphins returned to the practice field on Tuesday, hoping to fix the mistakes made in the horrid performance Sunday night to the Cowboys. Sadly, the Dolphins offense failed to give us much confidence that they learned from their errors on Sunday. Moreover, the Dolphins as a team need to begin to show some progress as this preseason moves along. I know, I know, they’ve...
The Miami Dolphins have been practicing for 2 weeks, but by the looks of things on Sunday night, they’re going to need a lot more practice. The Dolphins were sloppy from the beginning of the game when they fumbled on their first offensive play from scrimmage. The handoff from Ryan Tannehill to Lamar Miller appeared to be good, but Miller just missed it. Tannehill was ‘credited’...
Safety Reshad Jones appears ready to sign a long-term deal with the Miami Dolphins.
NFL.com and ProFootballTalk.com reported on Monday that Jones has agreed to a four-year extension that is worth 29.285 million (15 million guaranteed).
Jones, who is in the last year of his rookie contract, would now be among the league's top paid safeties. The deal would keep him with the Dolphins...
DAVIE, Fla. -- Sure, the Miami Dolphins line up 11 guys on offense. But none of them so far has been No. 11.
In a scrimmage last week before fans at Sun Life Stadium and in their first preseason game Sunday, the Dolphins were without wide receiver Mike Wallace, their most pivotal offseason acquisition who has been sidelined with a groin strain. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill sure is...
Dolphins running back Lamar Miller was seen limping off the practice field today.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Miller will be just fine.

DAVIE, Fla. -- The Miami Dolphins locked up one of their defensive stalwarts Tuesday. It sounds like one of their top offensive players won't be a hard sell when the time comes.
The Dolphins signed safety Reshad Jones to a four-year, 30 million contract extension. He's now under contract through the 2017 season.
Miami center Mike Pouncey took special note of the signing...
Dolphins safety Reshad Jones who last season took a step toward establishing himself among the NFL’s top safeties has signed a four-year contract extension with the team according to a NFL source.

Victor Cruz is a good teammate, and extremely loyal.
Cruz who just cashed in on a $45 million deal thinks Hakeem Nicks is worth way more than that, and told USA Today, that Nicks should get the same deal that Mike Wallace got from the Dolphins, if not more.
“Absolutely, Hakeem is worth Mike Wallace money,” Cruz told USA TODAY Sports on Sunday. “He’s worth whatever his numbers...
Miami Dolphins talented safety Reshad Jones can relax now, after finally getting a new deal.
Pro Football Talk is reporting that Jones and the Dolphins have agreed to a four-year, $29 million extension, with $15 million guaranteed.
Jones is set to earn an average of $7.003 million per year with the new extension, and will be the NFL’s sixth highest paid safety.
Ryan Tannehill - Miami Dolphins Clearly, Tannehill should not be a starting QB in a 10, 12 or even a 14 team league. But if you play in 2 QB formats, or if injuries knock out a QB or 2 this season, Ryan Tannehill could be extremely valuable. 3 QBs above him are Michael Vick, Ben Roethlisberger and Sam Bradford. Vick could lose his job any week, Big Ben has no offensive line and Sam...

The Dolphins have a budding star in safety Reshad Jones, so it made sense to sign him to a contract extension. For Jones, getting the new deal now eliminates a potential distraction as he tries to continue his rise as an NFL player.
