Jordan in his NFL debut on Sunday. (Photo: BleacherReport) Not everyone was happy with Miami Dolphins rookie Dion Jordan's performance in Miami's 24-20 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Sunday's Hall of Fame Game. Fortunately for the Dolphins, the majority of those unhappy are opposing quarterbacks and offensive tackles. Without playing until the early parts of the second half, Jordan recorded just two tackles, but did a good job getting pressure on the quarterback. As Miami gets set for their second preseason game on Friday in Jacksonville, it's hard to not want to see more of Jordan. Joe Philbin and the coaching staff however, appear to know what they're doing. With Cameron Wake, Jared Odrick, and Olivier Vernon out of the lineup on Sunday, it would have been easy to give Jordan the start, but the Dolphins didn't and probably for a number of reasons. Guys like Jonathan Freeny and Derrick Shelby played in front of Jordan on Sunday and even though tho...

While the Miami Dolphins get ready to play versus Jacksonville in a matter of hours, Jeff Ireland has made a change to the current preseason roster. The tackle position and it's flexibility has...

NFL Preseason Drinking Game: Official Rules

Alright Dolphins fans and football fans everywhere, the NFL is officially back.  Well, back in the sense that you can turn on the TV and you can find highlights and actual games (meaningless as they are) on television.  BUT, preseason games can be a bit boring, can’t they?  After all, with the exception of the 3rd preseason game, the starting units usually play a few series...

5 areas of concern, just 2 weeks into Dolphins camp

The Miami Dolphins returned to the practice field on Tuesday, hoping to fix the mistakes made in the horrid performance Sunday night to the Cowboys.  Sadly, the Dolphins offense failed to give us much confidence that they learned from their errors on Sunday.  Moreover, the Dolphins as a team need to begin to show some progress as this preseason moves along.  I know, I know, they’ve...

WR Mike Wallace returns to practice, running full speed

According to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, Dolphins WR Mike Wallace is practicing with the team for the first time in two weeks. Hampered by a groin injury, Wallace put his speed on display by catching a 40-yard touchdown pass from QB Ryan Tannehill during the practice.

Miami AD would like to have NCAA decision before opener

CORAL GABLES, Fla. Eight weeks to the day University of Miami officials finished meeting with the NCAA's Committee on Infractions, athletic director Blake James said Friday he was hopeful the school would hear a verdict before the football season kicks off. But he could not guarantee it. "I don't 'expect' anything," James said at the Hurricanes' football...

Dolphins owner Ross looking for improvement in '13

For an owner who has endured four consecutive losing seasons, Miami Dolphins boss Stephen Ross sounds remarkably patient. He resisted any temptation Wednesday to say he expected a double-digit win total or playoff berth this year, even after he committed about $150 million to free-agent acquisitions over the offseason. Instead, Ross said he wants to see progress and growth in the...

Are Wives Allowed at Training Camp During Practice?

The Miami Dolphins have reason to be optimistic going into the 2013 season. However, if Lauren Tannehill keeps interrupting practice to chit chat with her husband than they may need to calm that optimisim. Then again, we’re not complaining. Lauren is one of the top WAGs of the league… And for those Dolphins fans who are going to start spazzing saying she didn’t interrupt practice...

Charges dropped against ex-Dolphin WR Mark Duper

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Florida prosecutors have dropped child-abuse charges against former Miami Dolphins receiver Mark Duper. Prosecutors in Jacksonville, Fla., said the facts in the case did not warrant taking the case against the 54-year-old Duper to trial. Duper had been accused of punching, body-slamming and choking his 17-year-old son last March. Duper's attorney...

It was only a preseason game and the first one of the year, but the Dolphins are in a predicament of sorts. The team everyone is watching because of their huge offseason moves and draft class is under the gun, needing to play better in the second game of the preseason against a Jacksonville Jaguars team that...

Miami Vice

© AP I subscribe to the Marv Levy school of thought about pre-season.  This time of year is meant to evaluate players, put your roster together, and get ready for when the games actually count. Your pre-season record is meaningless, and one should not read too much into overall team performances. With that disclaimer out of the way, let me go ahead and read into what I saw Sunday...
