Found October 23, 2012 on NFL Draft Zone:

Doug Martin has been a consistent 75 yard back and a touchdown every other week since entering the NFL. Doug Martin rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries against the Saints in Week 7. Martin also added three catches for 37 yards. It was a prime opportunity for Martin to bust out against one of the league’s worst defenses, and the rookie out of Boise State  did the same he has been doing, averaging 70 plus yards.  Martin’s touchdown score came from 36 yards out in the first quarter, where LG Carl Nicks parted the sea for him with a perfect block. Martin did the rest by shaking Malcolm Jenkins on his way to the end zone. LeGarrette Blount stole three goal-line carries and didn’t capitalize on any of them. Martin will have a tougher go of it on Thursday night against the Vikings, who just allowed LaRod Stephens-Howling to rumble for 104 yards.

5 thoughts on the Buccaneers' loss to the Saints

1. Hats off to quarterback Josh Freeman for the career-best performance he had in the near comeback against the Saints. For the third week in a row, Freeman elevated his play and put up some big numbers. His passing totals have gone from 299 yards and one TD against Washington, to 328 yards and three TDs against Kansas City, and then to 420 yards and three TDs against New Orleans...

Bucs slowly finding themselves under Schiano

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers entered their Week 5 bye this season having lost three straight games and looking to still establish their identity with a new coaching staff led by first-year head coach Greg Schiano, who had come from the college ranks at Rutgers.Tampa Bay's early struggles could have been expected. The Buccaneers, in a rare case, might have been...

Greg Schiano’s bush league tactics may have finally cost his team a game

Tampa Bay rookie head coach Greg Schiano has already come under a lot of fire this season for his questionable coaching tactics. Schiano’s insistance on thumbing his nose at coaching convention in his first year in the NFL – most notably by bull rushing the kneel down play at the end of games - hasn’t sat well with much of the league’s old guard. Some have defended Schiano...

Bucs game day: Keys to the game against the Vikings

The Bucs head up north to face the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday Night Football. Tampa Bay can not let the national spotlight get to them as running back Adrian Peterson and defensive end Jared Allen have made it tough for the opposition to get a win off of them this season.  Keep Peterson from running wild Adrian Peterson ran for 153 yards and one touchdown against the Cardinals...

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Week 8 NFL Power Rankings (#25)

Last week: 25 (-1) Record: 2-4 So apparently you can shove a receiver out of bounds and that’s not PI, but if he comes back in bounds and catching a game tying touchdown, that’s a penalty. I picked the Buccaneers last week, so obviously I was pissed about that. That and Vincent Jackson going for [...]

Buccaneers struggling to win close games

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are running out of explanations for their inability to win close games. The Bucs (2-4) fell short again Sunday, falling 35-28 to the New Orleans Saints after nearly scoring the tying touchdown on the final two plays of the game. Josh Freeman had a career day passing, however his effort to get his team into overtime ended in disappointment...

Tampa Bay delivers a throwback game to remember

Last Sunday’s game was the first home game that Buccaneers fans were able to watch on television live in almost three years. What added to the euphoria was that Tampa Bay would play their division rivals, The New Orléans Saints. In past years, the two teams have headed off and each claimed victory over the other. This game, however, would prove to be the most exciting one yet...

Preview: Streaky Bucs have flaws

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have gained more than 450 yards in each of their last two games, but they have also had three games in which they surrendered at least that much. There are reasons for both the positive and negative statistics with the Bucs.

Buccaneers, Schiano want to change narrative

The Bucs would like the change the narrative on first-year coach Greg Schiano. Tampa Bay is 2-4 and has lost every game by a touchdown or less, including Sunday's 35-28 thriller against the New Orleans Saints Sunday. But as Tampa Bay travels to Minnesota to play in a nationally televised game on NFL Network against the Vikings in the Metrodome, the storyline continues to...

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Minnesota Vikings: Week 8 NFL Pick

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-5) at Minnesota Vikings (5-2) As I like to mention every week, the rule of thumb on Thursday Night is to take the home team. Home teams are 68-49 ATS in the history of Thursday Night football. It makes sense. On a short week, all the time to prepare, practice, and rest [...]
