Drew Brees is lucky he still has a head on his shoulders after taking a massive hit from Ahmad Brooks on Sunday. The Saints quarterback got knocked by Brooks on third-and-2 late in the fourth quarter. Brees fumbled on the play — recovered by the 49ers — but Brooks was called for roughing the passer. The Saints went on to tie the game on that drive. New Orleans won on a field goal with two seconds left in the game. The Saints benefitted from the call, but Brees will undoubtedly have some neck soreness after the game. He resembled a brachiosaurus when the play was slowed down. Questionable roughing the passer call nullifies crucial Drew Brees fumble late in game

Drew Brees and the Saints caught a huge break late in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game against the 49ers when a controversial ‘roughing the passer’ penalty was called on San Fran during this sack. Brees fumbled on the hit and the ball was recovered by the 49ers, but the play was overturned and New Orleans kicked the game-tying field goal just moments later. The post Questionable...

A familiar foe in the San Francisco 49ers (6-3) will come into the Superdome to face the New Orleans Saints (7-2)in what figures to be the game of the weekend in the NFC. Drew Brees gets destroyed by Ahmad Brooks

The New Orleans Saints were down 3 with less than 4 minutes left trying to drive down the field.  On a crucial 3rd down, Drew Brees was lit up by 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks and he fumbled the football.  Lucky for Brees and the Saints, a penalty was called for a high hit at Brees neck.  Upon further review it looks like it is the right call, but it’s tough for Brooks to hit...

Saints overcome mistakes to beat 49ers 23-20

Disappointed as Drew Brees was with the Saints' costly mistakes, he could not help but be impressed by the way his team found a way to pull out a last-second triumph over a playoff-contending team. Despite three turnovers and a failed fourth-down attempt, New Orleans rallied from a 20-14 fourth-quarter deficit for a 23-20 triumph over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. '...

Report: Ray Lewis Offers to Pay Half of Any Fine NFL Hands Down for Ahmad Brooks’ Hit on Drew Brees

Those linebackers have to stick together. After Ahmad Brooks‘ brutal but seemingly legal hit on Drew Brees in Sunday’s 49ers-Saints game, the San Francisco linebacker had some strong words for the direction he sees the NFL moving. “Football, the way they call stuff these days, it’s watered down,” Brooks said after the game. “It ain’t real no more.” Brooks isn...

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks was flagged for a personal foul in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s loss to the New Orleans Saints that may have cost his team the game. Brooks fired off the edge on 3rd and 2 and had a clean shot at Drew Brees, but he was called for roughing […]

Ahmad Brooks’ Clothesline of Drew Brees Gets The Jim Ross Treatment (Video)

Jim Ross calls Ahmad Brooks' hit on Drew Brees

One of my favorite internet memes is legendary WWE announcer Jim Ross' commentary being dubbed over memorable sports plays.  While this usually means the familiar line "as God is my witness he is broken in half" from this famous moment, you have to give credit to one YouTube user for expanding the meme and giving new life to it. Here is what Ross would have sounded...

Ray Lewis furious over Ahmad Brooks penalty, offers to pay half of fine

Ray Lewis was one of the most vocal critics of the penalty called on Ahmad Brooks that changed the San Francisco 49ers-New Orleans Saints game on Sunday. The former two-time Super Bowl-winning linebacker took the league to task for calling a personal foul penalty on Brooks for his hit on Drew Brees. He called it […]

49ers deal with second two-game skid this season

Jim Harbaugh still believes Ahmad Brooks made a clean hit on Drew Brees and should have been credited with a game-clinching fumble. Instead, Brooks was flagged for a personal foul on the Saints quarterback in the waning minutes Sunday and the 49ers watched Garrett Hartley kick a pair of late field goals to lift New Orleans over the reigning NFC champions 20-17. Another heartbreaking...

Drew Brees guided the New Orleans to two late Garrett Hartley field goals to give the Saints a 23-20 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Hartley’s 42-yarder with 2:06 left tied the game. His game-winner as time expired was from 31 yards. “I just take myself out of the element,” said Hartley after the game. “It was really funny that this happened the way that...

Ahmad Brooks:”It ain’t real no more”

There were not a lot of penalties that impacted games more on Sunday than the roughing the passer call that stripped San Francisco 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks of a sack/fumble that he earned against New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees. The call came late in the fourth quarter and would have put the game out of reach for New Orleans. The tainted end result titled the game...
