Eagles could pursue Raiders QB Marcus Mariota?

The Las Vegas Raiders reportedly are considering trading backup quarterback Marcus Mariota this offseason to gain more cap space. The New England Patriots have been linked to the former second-overall pick, but it appears another team could be interested in his services.

According to The Athletic's Ben Standig, the Philadelphia Eagles could be a destination for Mariota if traded or released:

… while Philadelphia wouldn't seem like an obvious landing spot — Jalen Hurts remains, and Mariota and Carson Wentz are repped by the same agency — one prominent league source said to keep an eye on the Eagles if Mariota is traded or released.

The Eagles traded Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts this offseason and are left with Hurts at quarterback. They don't appear to be 100% committed to Hurts being their quarterback of the future, so it's no surprise Mariota might be drawing interest from the franchise.

If the Raiders release or trade Mariota, they'll save $11.35 million in cap space and won't have any dead money from his deal, per Over The Cap.

Mariota made just one appearance last season after Derek Carr went down with a groin injury during a Week 15 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. He completed 60.7% of his passes for 226 yards and one touchdown against one interception in a 30-27 loss. He also ran for 88 yards and a score.
