It wouldn't be a Philadelphia Eagles injury report article without mentioning tight end Dallas Goedert, now would it?
With all the headlines surrounding A.J. Brown's cryptic post and everyone from head coach Nick Sirianni to quarterback Jalen Hurts responding to it, the one silent one is that Goedert did not practice on Wednesday. Goedert is still dealing with that knee injury that kept him out of the Week 2 Kansas City Chiefs game.
Also on the injury report were Jalen Carter (shoulder), Nakobe Dean (knee), Adoree' Jackson (groin), and Lane Johnson (shoulder), who were all limited. At least it was great to see Dean practicing for the first time since his 21-day window opened to practice, as he is on IR due to his NFC Wild Card game injury from last year.
At this point, despite Goedert actually being the leading receiver on the team in touchdown catches with three, it's getting tougher and tougher to justify having him on the roster beyond the 2025 season. This is a contract year for him, and he's been banged up for a lot of it. It's a shame, as he has all the talent to be a top 10 tight end in the NFL, but the Eagles need to see him being more trustworthy to stay on the field consistently.
Carter has clearly been fighting through the shoulder injury over the last three games, as Eagles fans have seen him from time to time being shaken up on the field. He still seems to be playing at a high level, but expect him to be limited as the week goes on.
Jackson missed last week's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with his groin injury as he works his way back this week. His job is not guaranteed, as Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said earlier this week that Kelee Ringo could possibly keep the CB2 job.
Johnson has been banged up the last two games as he has left early in both. It would almost be better for him to rest and not practice, trying to get as close to 100% as possible. While he doesn't necessarily have durability issues, he has been prone to missing time in the last few years with injuries.
While Dean is practicing, which is encouraging, it has been made clear by the coaches that they are not rushing him back. They feel comfortable with Jihaad Campbell and Zack Baun right now, so it'll be making sure he's 100% before he's back on the field.
Outside of the Goedert injury, the Eagles appear to be in good shape for their Week 5 matchup with the Denver Broncos. There might be a chance that everyone comes back except for Dean.
