Next up for the Eagles will be the Baltimore Ravens, and if you watched them Monday night play the Bengals, you should realize the Eagles will need a better effort if they hope to win. Starting with Andy Reid, who one would have difficulty arguing that last week Reid called one of his worst games as Eagles coach.

When the Eagles coaches watch the tapes on the Ravens they will see how they should play. It all starts with Ray Rice and the play action pass, which time and again allowed Joe Flacco to throw the ball down field. When the Bengals dropped back in coverage, Rice would cut through the defense via run or screen pass. Not that the Ravens were perfectly balanced but they made the most of their running game. Flacco is not Michael Vick and that could be why their passing attack was of pro caliber and the Eagles more resembled a junior varsity squad.

What will Reid and the Eagles need to do if they are to have a chance this week? With Vick under center they will NEED more than 20 carries from LeSean McCoy. Controlling the football and keeping the Ravens offense off the field has to be job 1 and keeping Vick under 35 passes job 2. If you didn’t notice, the Ravens still have an excellent defense and they rush the passer often which does not fall into the skill set of Michael Vick. It is all up to Coach Reid and if he can put Vick and the rest of the team in “the right position.”Similar Posts:
