The Philadelphia Eagles are 3-1 and lead the NFC East. This week, the Eagles will travel to Pittsburgh to take on a dangerous 1-2 Steelers team that is coming off of a bye week. The game starts at 1 PM on Sunday.
Eagles left tackle King Dunlap, who missed the Arizona and Giants games with a hamstring injury is back to practicing and should be able to play Sunday. That does not mean he’ll be starting at Left Tackle, however. Coach Andy Reid said that Demetress Bell “played very well” in the Giants game, and it looks like Bell may hold the job down, at least for now.
Last year, linebacker Brian Rolle started 13 games for the Eagles. This year he was relegated to a backup spot and saw little action on the field. With the special teams unit struggling (they rank 31 out of 32 in kickoff coverage) the team felt it needed to make a change. Brian Rolle was cut and the team added Adrian Moten, who was cut in the preseason. Moten has ample special teams experience and looks to be a better fit on the struggling coverage unit.
Jeremy Maclin was virtually non-existent in the Giants game after sitting out in Arizona with a hip pointer. Maclin had one catch for 7 yards against the Giants. Maclin was outstanding in week 1 against the Browns, but the many hits he’s absorbed appear to be taking a toll early in the season. Against Baltimore, he had one catch for 23 yards. The Eagles will need more production from Maclin if they hope to move to 4-1. Hopefully, he’s healthy now.
Cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha suffered an eye injury in Sunday’s game, and left the field for a long period of time. At one point it was reported that he was going to the hospital, however, Asomugha emerged and came back into the game in the second half.
After 9 turnovers (6 INTs and 3 fumbles) in the first 3 games of the season, Michael Vick did an excellent job of protecting the ball in New York. Hopefully he can duplicate that performance against the Steelers D, that while still potent, is not nearly as fast and dominant as it used to be.
