Cornerback Brandon Hughes' second stint with the Philadelphia Eagles appears to be coming to an end. Just a week after being re-signed by the Eagles, Hughes has been placed on the short-term injured reserve list, and will be released as soon as he can pass a physical, according to Darrin Gantt of Pro Football Talk.Hughes was on the field for 22 snaps in Sunday's 33-30 loss to the San Diego Chargers. Normally, Hughes just serves as depth for the Eagles. However, with Bradley Fletcher out due to a concussion, Hughes was forced to step in. Now would be an opportune time to explain some of the new injured reserve rules that the NFL has adapted to. The short term-IR is different from the injured reserve with designation to return. If a player is placed on the short term-IR their season is still over and their roster spot opens up. However, if the player can pass a physical they can sign with another team, which is what is likely to happen in Hughes' case. With Hughes on injured reserve and an open roster spot, the Eagles signed cornerback Roc Carmichael off of the Houston Texans practice squad.Follow @TheNFLInjuryRpt Looking for fantasy football advice?Follow Chris Hecker on Twitter: @HeckDynasty

Eagles steal CB Roc Carmichael from Texans practice squad

Today the Philadelphia Eagles found themselves a steal in Roc Carmichael from the Houston Texans practice squad. A fourth-round pick in 2011, Carmichael missed his entire rookie year due to a shoulder injury and never recovered. He’ll add depth to the Eagles secondary with Brandon Hughes (hamstring) on short-term IR and can help on special teams. […]

Chip Kelly pulled Vick for a play because he didn’t know NFL rule

Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly is still a rookie. While his offense looks like it could stick, he has coached only two games at the NFL level. Because of that, Chip is still learning. In the fourth quarter of the Eagles’ loss to the San Diego Chargers on Sunday, Michael Vick was drilled by Chargers […]

WATCH: Eagles try 'Swinging Gate' on two-point attempt

After the Chiefs jumped to a 10-0 lead, the Eagles responded with a touchdown drive that included a 61-yard Michael Vick run followed by an impressive touchdown throw to Jason Avant. The Eagles then decided to go for two points in the first quarter, a decision that will be reexamined hundreds of times if this game is decided by a point. Still have to respect the balliness, given...

Cary Williams: Rivers 'seemed to know everything we were trying to throw at him'

San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers looked to have underwent sort of a rebirth to relevancy with the team's big win against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. Rivers picked apart the Eagles' D to precision in their thrilling 33-30 win. Harking back to the days when the Chargers were a formidable playoff team, they racked up 539 total yards, the most since 1985.

Mike Vick Debuts His Line of Wave Brushes (Photo)

Listen, if someone wanted to pay me to say I brushed my hair with a stick, I’d take the money. Michael Vick is no fool, he has only some many years left in the NFL and after that bankruptcy, he needs to get all the money as he can. The best wave brush to buy is at the same store they sell the 18 inch weave at. Get you some DAX and your waves with be Atlantic Ocean worthy. Check...

LeSean McCoy Leaves with Leg Injury

Eagles halfback LeSean McCoy suffered a right leg injury in the second quarter of Thursday's game against Kansas City.Fantasy Spin:He was able to walk off the field on his own power, which is always an encouraging sign. NFL Network's sideline reporter Alex Flanagan saw McCoy throw down his helmet, so obviously he's very frustrated. We should have an update on McCoy'...

Michael Vick shaken up again, can he last the season?

Michael Vick needs to come with an extended warranty when he hits the field. Only once in his career has he managed to stay healthy for the entire slate of 16 games. And that was when he was playing in a much different offense. Under rookie head coach Chip Kelly, Vick is required to be more active in the backfield, rolling out and sprinting downfield with the ball. Vick recorded...

Eagles Defense: Are We In For A Long Season?

After opening the season with two dominant quarters, the Eagles defense seem to have showed their true colors over the last six quarters. Against the Redskins, they had a large lead and shifted towards a “let’s try not to blow this” mentality. Against the Chargers, they were horrific from beginning to end. Just how bad were they on Sunday? I think this tweet sums it up...

Marcus Vick is doing his thing on Twitter, again

Marcus Vick is known for a couple of things, besides being the little brother to Michael Vick, and neither are flattering. One, he famously stomped on Elvis Dumervil way back when in college. Two, he says stupid things on Twitter,…Read more →

Michael Vick: Andy Reid’s One Of The Greatest Men I’ve Ever Met

Michael Vick owes Andy Reid his life. I know that may be a bit overboard, but the fact is Vick owes Andy Reid a ton.  Upon being released from prison in 2008, Vick wasn’t sure he’d get another shot in the league. The first and maybe only phone call Vick got after his release was from Big Red himself.  Vick of course went on to win the Eagles job a year later, signed another...

Defensive Woes

The San Diego Chargers proved to the NFL that there’s an answer to Chip Kelly’s bewildering offense…keep his defense on the field. The Eagles defensive struggles have left them with the second worst pass-defense in the NFL; second to the Chargers. With a thinning secondary, the situation in Philadelphia is reaching critical mass. The Eagles secondary, youthfully untested, has...
